With its amber-mahogany coloring and streaked with fine top-fermented yeast, this beer has a fine, persistent head that adheres well to the glass. It is pleasantly fruity with a typical top-fermented smell, an aroma of clove and nutmeg apple tantalizes the nose. On the tongue it is fresh, clean, full-bodied, harmonious and well-balanced. It finishes with a light, delicate taste of bitters leaving behind a sour impression.

Pours a brilliant amber color, and has a wonderful foamy head. Heavy carbonation. Smells decent, although somewhat weak on the nose. Taste is typical of most german hefe’s. Some clove, banana, bubble gum. The color is somewhat misleading as the beer feels pretty light on the palate. Taste nearly identical to Franziskaner, but twice the price. Pretty decent.

Draught Rocky, off-white head (faintly pink), lasts fully. Muddy, amber to brown body. Fully hoppy aroma of flowers, grass, grapefruit, orange and lemon with hints of malts (cookies). Moderately bitter, lightly sweet initial flavour. Lightly sweet, lightly bitter finish. Very soft and well-balanced. Light to medium bodied with a lively carbonation. This is a very fine hefeweizen, well balanced and is smoothly drinkable with fine bitter notes.

very good hefeweizen. Pours amber, with a big off white head. Aroma is of banana, clove, the usual suspects. Taste is also banana and spicy with some caramel and sweetness. Well balanced, a good summer beer.

A gift from stretchmonster--TY. More color and head than I expected. Smells like baby food, banana malt-o-meal. Warming dimished the flavor leaving somewhat of a bitey finish. But fresh and cold a nice drink.

UPDATED: MAY 24, 2007 Pours a hazy darker brown/amber color. Decent fluffy head that faded fairly quickly. Flavors of malt, wheat, banana, citrus, nutmeg... a pretty complex dunkelweizen. It seemed to be slighly more carbonated than the usual, I found this to be a plus. Crisp and refreshing, despite its heavy array of flavors. Definitely a very smooth and easy-to-drink beer, and an above-average dunkel.

Hazy amber color with a small white head. Sweet malt and banana aroma. Banana flavor with wheat and light malt in the end.

A monstrous creamy head tops a cloudy amber pour, a bit darker than most hefe’s. The off white foam lasted until the bottom of the glass. The aroma has the usual suspects - banana, clove, etc. The huge head and impressive effervescence makes one suspicious that this is over carbonated, but that is simply not the case. Very fine, small bubbles and a notable bready malt base make for a very pleasant mouthfeel. There’s an underlying light bitterness in the finish, but the sourness is more evident. A very nice hefeweizen in the classic Bavarian tradition.
