daknole (1126), Plantation, Florida, USA Sep 30, 2008 Bottle. Cloudy amber pour with a nice sized mostly white head. Aroma is yeast, banana, spices and bread. Flavor is malty, yeasty, bready, fruity and overall a nice beer.
benwah22 (14), , Florida, USA Nov 1, 2008 A good quality beer, but not completely to my liking. A bit of banana, a bit of cirtrus and a little tangy. For some reason there’s almost a numbing component for the palate. If you drink it you’ll probably be able to know what I mean. There’s pretty full carbonation when you take a swig and it leaves a watery after effect. zvikar (37), , Israel Oct 31, 2008 Blue bottle, nice aroma of clove and banana, orange banana flavour with some clove, too cirusy and not sweet enough. cgreb (84), Marburg, Germany Oct 31, 2008 bottle - brown beer with white head. Typical yeasty banana aroma. The same for the flavour. BigBeer45 (502), Troy, Michigan, USA Oct 30, 2008 500ml bottle, pours a cloudy dark honey and brown, has a good size white head, there is a good amount of effervescence, aroma of banana, wheat, malt and some sweetness, flavor of wheat, malt bread and bread sweetness, has some citrus and pepper on the tongue at the finish, medium or so bitterness at the finish, has a nice creamy mouth feel, a good Hefe. darkguardian (206), Florida, USA Oct 30, 2008 16oz bottle. Really lovely pour of dark amber, unusual for a hefe with an outstanding long lasting head. Nose is some clove and banana but a heavy wheat aroma that tickles the nose. Flavor has perfect carbonation, a much deeper more intense flavorful hefe than most with an awesome yeasty middle and a lovely banana finish with lots of laid back clove notes throughout and a bit of nutmeg and coriander. There is a reason why this is considered the original. If its not better than Ayinger, than its damn close.
