This beer will spawn lovers and haters alike. I for one am a lover because when it comes to beer styles I am one who likes it when beers push the boundaries and break the rules and I applaud the brewers who ask the question what if we did this? This is a Hop Heads Hefe! Now for the beer. So big floral and full. Meal in a glass kind of thing. Sometimes Hefe has those flavors that are astringent and cut through you. Not this one. All those wonderful weissen flavors and characteristics and big hops to go with it. Absolutely one of my favorite beers. The alcohol is spot on. barely noticable and puts you where you want to be. Not for the faint at heart.

UPDATED: JUL 1, 2012 from bottle. pours a deep orange hazy colour with a minimal frothy head that quickly disappears. the aroma is fantastic: lots of hops mixed with the typical weissbier characteristics: banana and some yeast. but this one adds the citric and tropical fruits notes from an IPA to it. absolutely awesome! the full body, the quite creamy and the fizzy carbonation mixed with all the sweet fruity notes and the slightly bitter aftertaste make this one of the best beers around. go get it!

UPDATED: FEB 17, 2013 Bottle shared with McTapps. If Lindemans Kriek was my surprise of 2012, then the title 2013 goes definitely to that Schneider. HUGE citrus, fruity and very hoppy aroma which will hit you from first to last ! What a aromatic bombthis beer is ! Taste offers fruits, citrus and a bit yeast but the nose is crazy well brewed. Superb piwo !

UPDATED: APR 2, 2015 hazy yellow colour with brownish notes, huge white-off white head; extremely complex aroma and taste of bread, citrus, grass, tropical fruits (mainly mango) banana, and pine resin (as if you would have a great weizen and an IPA in parallel); this is the best weizen (not only weizen bock, but in all weizen categories) Iíve ever tasted; excellent beer update: some pineapple can also be felt both in the aroma and taste. Iím really close to say that (at least currently) I canít imagine that it is possible to brew better weizen than this one. score changed from 4.9 (10/5/9/5/20) to 5.0 - if I find better weizen in the future, then Iíll re-score it again :) update2 (02 04 2015): still the best :-) worth to try again and again

Quite simply my favourite weissbier. A bit cloudy, a bit stronger, but it never tastes or smells completely divergent from the style.

Honestly my ultimate beer. There is so much going on here. Itís the absolute marriage between what we love in IPAs and Hefeweissen- big hoppy citrus notes coupled with all the sweet bubble gum goodness of a hefeweissen. There arenít too many places to get this in NYC, Der Schwarzer Kolner in Fort Greene, Whole Foods on 2nd Ave., and Brooklyn Beer and soda (sometimes) From the bottle- pours a beautiful hazy deep golden color. Big frothy white head that goes away at a slow rate. The aroma is sublime, with so much nuance. I detect citrus (almost pineapple), floral, fruity notes, with yeasty stuff coming out too. With the hefeweissen hybrid you also get some banana and bubblegum in there too. The taste is equally complex with an excellent balance between the sweetness from the hefeweissen wheat and the bitterness from the heavy hops in the IPA portion of this mind blowing hybrid.Mouthfeel is super smooth with an excellent balance of CO2, itís a thick fizzy beer with a long amazing finish. It really stays of your palate. This beer can stand up to heavily spiced food, but is almost best enjoyed simply by itself.

I love this beer. I drank this beer in the schneider restaurant in Munich. The colour is a copper and trouble. The carbonation is regular. The taste is perfect with good hop and it is tasting something like mango and sweet fruit, a perfect balance. It is a pity not to find easily this beer in Switzerland.

UPDATED: JUN 8, 2012 500 ml bottle. Cloudy yellow-brown pour with a thick white head. The aroma is fantastic... fresh noble hops with zesty citrus, flowers and herbs and a soft dankness set against wheaty citrus acidity, banana, melon and a soft clove and bubble gum character. I could smell this beer all day. A touch of black pepper that becomes much more prominent as the beer warms up. Flavour is of fresh wheaty spice, herbal/floral hops. Rich texture, black pepper and soft clove/banana in back of all the hops. Cotton candy/bubble gum sweetness as well. Youíll have to drink this one fresh because I donít think the hop character will hold up for long, but itís pretty awesome right now. Alcohol is pretty evident, especially as the beer warms up a bit, but Iíve got no complaints right now.

Iíve had this so many time now and every time I find something else that I absolutely love about it. Might be one of my favourites and is something that Iíll pick up every single time I see it. Other than the excessive muddiness of the pour thereís nothing I could imagine that would improve it.

Sampled from a 16 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very murky orange-ochre color with a huge soapy yellow-white head that lingered and produced good lacing. The aroma was strong fruity hops with notes of orange, grapefruit and pineapple. The flavor was very sweet, tangy and tart with a delightful mix of grapefruit, pine and pineapple and undertones of wheat, yeast and pepper. The finish was long with notes of pineapple and wheat. Fairly full bodied. The alcohol was very well hidden. Incredible.
