3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 kappldav123 (3759) - Markkleeberg, GERMANY - NOV 3, 2012
Thanks to Alex for arranging this beer! Bottle looks awesome. Beer in the glass dark, almost black. Starts very strong, modest alcoholic, some fruity notes of berries. Reminds me more of a Barley Wine than a Weizenbock. Finish more balanced, more intense malty. Still warming-alcoholic. Interesting beer!
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 TimE (2584) - Tokyo, JAPAN - SEP 16, 2012
low carbonation, lots of bread, chocolate, caramel, moderately sour, but a bit all over the place. Lovely sour nose. What is weird is that it is very drinkable with the acidity. Almost like a beer. Really amazing in idocity, but not sure what to think. Extra points for originality. Beer got better as it warmed up.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 KyotoLefty (4725) - Kyoto, JAPAN - SEP 16, 2012
Bottle. Bretty nose, dusty, caramel, raisin, cherry, chocolate, vanilla, oak. Very complex and subtle flavors, bretty, with chocolate. Fun, complex, and surprising. A bit shocking at first to have a barnyard Aventinus, but this really worked, and got better as it warmed and opened up. Thanks to Shuichi for sharing!
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 jonno (2001) - JAPAN - SEP 15, 2012
What a oddly beautiful beer. Woody and very fruity it is as smooth as the proverbial baby’s b. Very beguiling and shapeshifts on a number of occasions. I went back and forth, but in the end it is a class act. Some nice full brett, but not over the top. Rich, but hiding ABV well. Some plum, berry and dried fruit in the body. Very Orvallian in many ways, though much fruitier. Top draw.

Bottle 750ml. @ The Danish Summer Gathering, TFODRBSG12, Ulfborg.
[ Bottle # 120 ]. Unclear medium red amber colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is light to moderate malty, caramel, light to moderate yeasty, moderate to light heavy oak. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet with a long duration, sweet malt - fruit, sweet fruity, oak - wood, seet yeast. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic. IMO. the oak is to dominating, maybe been to longtime on the barrels. [20120818]

Bottle, 75cl, at TFODRBSG 2012. An unclear, brown beer with a small, dense, off-white head. Some banana and caramel in the aroma, which is quite weak. Vinous and lightly lemony too. The flavor is lightly lemony and vinous, not warming, with some caramel and banana. Full-bodied, rather effervescent. Banana, caramel and a vinous twist in the end. Not my favorite Aventinus, but quite pleasant anyway. 120818
