Muddy brownish color with little foam. Sour smell. The taste is light, sour, a little malty with a thick full mouth feeling. Sour, dry and a little heavy aftertaste.

Bottle at SinH4?s Goodbye Event. Hints of vinegar in the aroma, but not in a stenchy way. Beautiful sourness and well balanced. Very distinct from the regular Aventinus Eisbock, and in a good way still!

Brown-reddish color with beige ring. Red berries, malts, tartness, berries, cherries funk. Taste is more of the same, vanilla and oak noticeable. A Flanders-red style Weizenbock? Amaaaazing!

Bottle. Dark reddish amber pour, slightly hazy, with an off white head. Sweet malt, raisin, dates, red berries, wood, and slightly sour. A pleasant beer, but it doesn’t jump out at me as being great.

Bottle. Pours ugly murky reddish brown with non existing head. Surprisingly sour on the nose, tannins, wood, oaky vanilla, red wine, subtle malts, sweet fruits. Taste is quite sour and refreshing. Same as nose. Some bitter tannins in finish. Light body and tingling sour finish. A surprise, but e nice one!

Pours a dark ruby color with a small off-white head. Aromas of cherries, plums, figs, candied sugar, wood and booze. Flavors are along the same lines but I swear I can taste just a little of the banana/cloves from the original Weizen Bock from which it was aged. Fairly high carbonation with a sour/tart finish. This is by no means a Weizen Bock..........Ratebeer needs to re-classify this as a Sour/Flemish Red. Anyways, great beer.

375 ml bottle 2014 edition, from Bier-Deluxe.
Dark red body with a medium, quickly dissipating, fizzy, beige head.
Aroma with a lot of sweet, wooden barrel notes, vanilla, red wine, sweet-sour berries, overripe fruits, some ripe banana, some sweet malts.
Tastes delicious, quite sour, with barrel notes, vanilla, wine, overripe fruits, sweet-sour berries, apples, leather, even some barnyard notes, no Weizenbock notes at all.
Medium, a bit oily mouthfeel, with an average to soft carbonation.
Finishes smooth, sour, dry, wooden, fruity, a bit leathery, subtly alcohol warming.

Really surprising! As mentioned by others, this clearly is a Flemish Red and if I didn’t know it I would never guess this is a barrel aged Aventinus. Very tasty, quaffable and greatly balanced, the alcohol is well hidden. Among my favourite Schneider Weisse beers and one of the best Sour Reds I’ve had so far, even though it isn’t categorised as such.

L: -pours a murky brown with a small, creamy, quickly dissipating, beige head -low-medium carbonation visible S: -oak,vanilla,grapes,overripe banana, caramel, toffee, balsamic vinegar T: -grapes,cherries,raspberries,caramel, dry F: -medium carbonation,medium-full body (Feels lighter than expected) -alcohol very well hidden O: Almost unrecognizable from it’s base Beers (Tap6 & Aventinus Eisbock). Reminded me a lot of a Flanders Red a la Rodenbach. Very good though.

Pours a surprisingly clear body (there goes my childhood wisdom about the unavoidable haziness of wheat beers), dark copper in colour, with a small head that leaves some lacing. Sour and strong aroma of tart fruits, red berries and cask wood. Complex and lovely strong flavour of acidic and tart fruits, tart red berries, red wine and cask wood. Moderate to light sweet and moderate sour taste. A brilliant beer!
[75 cl bottle, labelled Schneider Weisse Tap X Mein Aventinus Barrique 2014, shared with Svensenga smak & behag, from Vinmonopolet Vika, Oslo]

Lovely nose: strawberry, cherry, raspberry and aceton. Lovely taste: oaky, cherry, ciric acid, vinegar, vanilla. Lovely mouthfeel. Lingering fruity aftertaste. Mjammie mjammie mjammie. Weisenbock? No. Vlaams Rood? Yes. Go for it if you like sours, avoid if else.
