Deep chestnut brown colored pour. Sizable off-white head that lasts a while. Nice oaky, weizen aroma of bananas, wheat and yeast. Slight up-front alcohol presence and a very warming alcohol bite. Sweet malt flavor, with some fruity esters. A bit too much alcohol, but otherwise balanced. Not bad.

Aroma: fruity, bread and caramel malts, light wheat. Appearance: dark, hazy brown, massive, beige head. Taste: light bitter and sour. Palate: sours intensify, lively carbonation, very fruity, berries, apples.Overall: interesting Weizenbock, has many elements of a Sour/Red Ale, was missing the Weizenbock typical sweet flavours. Bottle from Wittich Weine, Olten.

2014 bottle, notes that this is aged in Chardonnay barrels (unlike the other versions, I think which were aged in Pinot barrels). Pours deep dark brown with a tinge of red on the edges and ahalf finger of off white head that recedes quickly. Aroma is tart and vinous, with some paint thinner notes, vinegar, plums, acidic in my nostrils. Flavor is sour black cherries, heavy wine notes, clean finish leaving a lightly tart, dry oaky finish on the palate. Heavier for a sour, in the Flanders range of brews, with some light yet prickly carbonation. This was pretty good, but also quite a detour from Aventinus.

Something of a revelation. The nose is rather bland, just kinda muddy brownish maltiness with teases of the tartness lying within. The flavors though, are explosive on the palate. Vineous, tart cherries, hints of raspberries, woody, acetic acid. Crazy complex. I wish this smelled...more...because yeah, hella interesting beer.

It pours cloudy brown with a full head that is tan. It has sour and tart aromas with vinous elements present as well. It’s initial taste is sour with a tart effect that resembles fruit and vinous flavors. It has a dry finish.

Tap. Hazyish Musdy brown, thin eggshell head. Sour and vinous aromas, very pleasant, some funky notes and dark grapes in the aroma. Flavor has a more rounded fruity/vinous/earthy profile with some dark caramel and a dryish nutty finish. Lighter to medium body.
