I smell several fruits maybe rasberry, a little banana, wood. Taste is sweet and malty but fades into some fruity sourness, which is not my personal favourite taste but interesting. Aftertaste is quite winy and alcoholic. Reminds me a little of sherry. Very interesting beer; thanks to Esther from Bierland Hamburg

from draft, as vintage mein Aventinus Barrique 2013. poured a light muddy colour with a off head, vineous tart notes upfront, plums, green apples, grape, oak, some acid vinegar and some red cherries, some dry aftertaste with a small green apple in the aftertaste. bit more subtle and complex compared to the ’14 version. glad to find it on tap. would never pay such a high price for a bottle. can’t say it’s really worth a high price. compared to other BA beers.

Light brown and opalescent colour with a fine lightly tan head. Noses of wood, sour red fruits with a pinch of caramel. Light lively, thin texture with a medium-full body. Sour bit tart with a faint sweetness. Excellently balanced with a lasting drying out finish at the back-end. Ace!

cloudy mahogany with a fizzy dusty-tan head, medium-fine, uniform, 5mm, moderate-fast rate of decay. A tart, lactic-acetic aroma hits me right away from afar - sour cherries. Close up, I get sour grape, light spiced raisin, and tingly vinegar. Body is highly oily, moderately starchy, very smooth and viscous, moderate weight, light, medium-fine carbonation with little-to-no burn. Flavor is tart, much less acetic, lightly spicy, cherry, grape, unripe mango, a bit of brown sugar under it all, and a hint of molasses. Not getting a lot of the typical weizenbock flavors, or even dark flavors at all. I think all of the caramel malt were consumed by the souring organisms of those Chardonnay barrels. Overall: does not taste at all like a bock of any sort (-1 overall for no heads up on the tartness.) As a Flanders brown, pleasant, smooth, with less bite - first rate! Aside: for those of you describing this as Brett, I would think twice. This is much cleaner than most Brett I’ve encountered, so perhaps we are dealing with bacteria.

Cloudy brown pour with a thin off-white head. Aroma of tartn fruit, malt, berry and citrus. Malty flavor with cherry accents and berry with slight caramel before a tart citrus finish.
