I smell several fruits maybe rasberry, a little banana, wood. Taste is sweet and malty but fades into some fruity sourness, which is not my personal favourite taste but interesting. Aftertaste is quite winy and alcoholic. Reminds me a little of sherry. Very interesting beer; thanks to Esther from Bierland Hamburg

Ljust jord färgad med ett ljus brunt skum. Doft: Funk, kompost, växter, citron syra. Smak: Kommer att tänka på Rodenbach Grand Cru, funk, trä, äppel kärnor.

Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks beerandbeyond. 2013 bottle. Murky brown, white head. Lots of fruit in the nose, esteric, some cherry. Sour, brett that becomes fruitful and tarty with some apple in the mouth. Long finish, smooth, full body, a little astringent.

0.75L bottle. Pours hazy mohaganey with a frothy off-white head. Lots of sour aromas, with hints of balsamic vinegar, also dough, vinous and notes of bourbon. Noteworthy and different flavor profile. Sweet-sour flavor up front with some woody notes. Middle has a short period of malty sweeetness, but then to a long, drawn out sour flavor with some hints of butterscotch and burnt oak / bourbon and warm alcohol in the chest. Full-body with a slick mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. Overall, much complexity to this beer. Mostly on the sour side, but a broad range of aromas, and a fast-moving flavor profile makes this stand out.

Bottle. Pours murky brown with a light-brown head that settles quick. Aroma is complex, with a distinct sourness of red currant, raspberries, grapes, some wood, oak, gum, a slight sweeter nuance in the back. Taste is direct, with vinous, sour tones of red berries, grapes and green apples. Some oak tones and a slightly sweeter side in the back, bread foremost, before a dry sour finish with a hint of warming alcohol. Body medium to full, soft carbo, smooth texture. Way more complex than I’m able to write down, bravo. One thing is sure, this tastes nothing like an everyday weizen bock, this has so much more complexity and flavours.

Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks beerandbeyond. 2013 bottle. Murky brown. Lovely aroma of sour fruits, some lactic acid, oak, some malt and a funky touch. Sourish and slightly sweetish flavor with malt, a bit of caramel, sour dark fruits and yogurt. Rounded mouthfeel. A bit heavy but very nice.

From bottle labelled "Aventinus Eisbock Barrique" and numbered 462 of 688. Poured hazy nut-brown with no head at all. Appears flat. There is a mild herbal/medicinal aroma with notes of wine and wood. Medium body, a bit oily. Prominent alcohol astringency in the finish. Medicinal flavor with notes of wine and wood in it. I had high expectations for this. Sadly, I think this bottle may have been infected or spoiled. Hope to have another opportunity to try this and see its true character.

750, capped, taped, roped, pamphleted. Very nice. Pours a clear and very dark amber. No real head or lace. Big vinous nose, showing blackberry and a bit of balsamic, plus plenty of spicy oak. Creamy medium body with soft carb. Blackberries, balsamic, oak, and cherry notes on the mid palate. Long berry finish. Quite nice.
