I smell several fruits maybe rasberry, a little banana, wood. Taste is sweet and malty but fades into some fruity sourness, which is not my personal favourite taste but interesting. Aftertaste is quite winy and alcoholic. Reminds me a little of sherry. Very interesting beer; thanks to Esther from Bierland Hamburg

From bottle labelled "Aventinus Eisbock Barrique" and numbered 462 of 688. Poured hazy nut-brown with no head at all. Appears flat. There is a mild herbal/medicinal aroma with notes of wine and wood. Medium body, a bit oily. Prominent alcohol astringency in the finish. Medicinal flavor with notes of wine and wood in it. I had high expectations for this. Sadly, I think this bottle may have been infected or spoiled. Hope to have another opportunity to try this and see its true character.

750, capped, taped, roped, pamphleted. Very nice. Pours a clear and very dark amber. No real head or lace. Big vinous nose, showing blackberry and a bit of balsamic, plus plenty of spicy oak. Creamy medium body with soft carb. Blackberries, balsamic, oak, and cherry notes on the mid palate. Long berry finish. Quite nice.

Bottle: Thank Douberd: Served in a Chouffe glass: Medium sized lively and quickly lowering levels creamy vanilla colored foamy head on top of a hazy brown colored beer. Aromas of Brett, wood, grapes, white wine, some berries, some sweet malts, tarty tones, cherries, some oak, some cellar, some brown sugars. A mix of Belgian Oud Bruin, some Lambic ish tones and a wild beer... Nice but Weizendoppelbock? Flavour is tart and sour with berries, grapes, wild yeast, lacto tones, white vinous notes, some wood and oak, malty, some caramel, hints of brown sugars and a slight sprinkle of red/brown fruit with a light bitter edge. Aftertaste is tart with grapes, some malts, white wine notes, some bitters and wood. Low carbo, creamy tart mouthfeel, more than just medium bodied and a sticky tart creamy texture. For a Weizendoppelbock this is quite weird and actially sucks a bit, but for a wild beer and beer that has been aged in white wine barrels it’a quite nice. I like sour and wild and I like this beer, still some minus points for loosing the style out of sight...

Appearance: muddy purple brown with a quickly retreating light tan head. Aroma: strong aroma of sour cherries and raspberries, with brown bread, caramel, graham cracker pie crust, and a bit of vanilla. Taste: quick hit of tootsie roll, before a sour/tart note like a rodenbach rolls across the tongue, with notes of vanilla, old wood, and a slight earthiness. Finish: lingering sweet/sour notes are pleasant on the palate, slowly fading with the sweetness becoming just a bit more pronounced. Notes: Amazing, wonderful hybrid beer. Amazing what the barrel aging imparts, for this no longer resembles anything close to a weizenbock and much more seems a traditional sour ale/lambic hybrid. Deceptively, dangerously well-hidden alcohol, and a great, smooth, refreshing palate.

bottle @ Sergio’s / Louisville KY --- Cloudy amber brown with a thin rim head, tiny dots of lace. Malt begins the taste, but it is soon overwhelmed by wine overtones that take on a character of dried dark fruits. The difference between this and similar brews, is that it is very light and easy drinking, dangerous even. A unique brew, and an appealing brew. Recommended.

Bomber from Zipp’s Liquors in Minneapolis. Sweet and sour nose, with spice and rich fruit: pomegranate and light peaches. Tart initial, mature ripe fruit, slightly stinky strained peaches and plums, light roast mallt. . Medium body, very smooth and creamy. Not as overpowering as I’d expected. Balanced and rich.

Bottle - 750ml at Mondial de la Bière (Montréal, QC). Cloudy brown body with a thin off-white foamy head. Strong malty/hoppy aroma with Bourbon, fruity, and yeasty hints. Its robust, complex malty/hoppy taste carries Bourbon, oaky, and yeasty notes. Ends with a long, warming bittersweet finish. Very enjoyable.
