COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Schneider Aventinus Eisbock matured for 15 months in Pinot Noir Barrels. In 2010 Hans-Peter Drexler started a new project : maturing some of his finest beers in wine barrels. He enjoyed the expertise of brewmaster Jérôme de Rebetez from Brasserie des Franches Montagnes in Switzerland who grew up in a wine producing family. Thus, they created delicious new beer aromes. Mein Eisbock Barrique welcomes you with an intense raspberry, cherry and vanilla aroma. A very rich and harmonious taste of chocolate, vanilla and berries will explode in your mouth leaving a lasting and pleasant after-taste reminding you of good red wine. This beer is recommended with chocolate and red fruit dessert or a blue cheese. however, as it is so powerful that it can easily be enjoyed by its own.

Vinous and tart aroma of currants, dates, and gym socks. Murky and chunky ochre, headless. Currants and dates initially, but red wine takes over at midpalate and beyond. Some nutty maltiness as well. Medium body, tannic, soft carbonation. Warm, but appropriate. Too vinous for me, and I’m disappointed this beer didn’t retain more of the wheat characteristics.

Bottle bought @ Systembolaget. Pours murky reddish brown without any trace. Smell is sour, malty and fruity with caramel, banana bread, raisins, sour cherries, dark grapes, moist hay, moist wood, lemon zest, alcohol hints of red wine vinegar. Taste is tiny sweet, slightly sour, tiny bitter, malty and slightly fruity with dark bread, banana peal, lemon juice, dark grapes, sour cherries, blackberries, moist wood, moist hay, moist wood, lemon zest and hints of alcohol. Mouthfeel is soft, flat, slightly viscous, tiny dry, slightly tart, tiny boozy and medium to full bodied. Finish is slightly sour with dark bread, lemon juice, red wine, moist hay, moist wood, vanilla, lemon zest and hints of alcohol. A surprising beer. Not at all what I expected. Quite good...

Bottle, thanks to Alex. Slightly hazy dark brown beer with a very small head. Sourish vinous aroma, funky, raisins, caramel, earthy notes, dust, some citrus, woody notes. Sourish woody vinegar flavor, funky, raisins, figs, earthy notes, dust, some caramel. A bit strange but not that bad.

Bottle from Grassrootsa while ago. Pour is almost flat. Dark brown no head. Aroma is sherry and papery oxidation. Taste is thin, watery and overall pretty damn bland. It doesn’t seem like a 12% beer. That’s about the only thing it has going for it so far. Lightly woody and drying as it warms. I can’t believe I paid for this shit. Wasn’t cheap either. Might need to just dump this juice. Can’t ell if it is the oxidation or wine barrel but it’s not a good flavor overall. Especially given the dead flat carbonation.

Importerat på flaska. Färgat som rostigt kranvatten. Syrlig doft av körsbär. Smakar jästa körsbär och som ett omoget vin.

Flaska från Systembolaget delad med @msbrindbergs. Grumligt brunt avloppsvatten utan skum. Doftar sura hallon. Smakar sura hallon. Konstig känsla i munnen helt utan kolsyra.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The cutest 11.2oz bottle. The great thing about coming home is that my dad buys beer that I never would risk my dough on. This is one of those beers. That was very fortunate because the is a pile of sour, flat, and garbage juice. Its a mud pour, I mean the whole bottle is the ass end of a homebrew. Dirty. Then its infected ascetic sour. Tell me that is purposeful, I dare you. I mean its not even decent sourness, its bad sourness. Did I mention the garbage smell. Yuck. Also, a sweet beer underneath all the infection. This is why Germans shouldn’t try to replicate Americans.
