3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 17/20Crown-capped champagne bottle – decants a lightly clouded light gold colored weizen in my glass. Decent puffy 2 finger cap lasts and laces. Light effervescence. Aroma is fairly modest but there is a defined wheat malt-fruit-clove aroma with an underlying vinous quality. Fairly sort moth with a light fluid character. Flavor is also demure but this is part of the intended character of this unique weizen – front side has the appearance of the standard Hefeweiss flavors, the clove phenols, banana-fruity esters and a light citrus presence – mid palate is where this beer becomes unique – instead of the standard hop bittering you get a mild tartness like raw white grape skin, not over powering but definitely present and this makes the finish not so dry but much like a white wine spritzer – fluid, tart but not puckering dry like most wiezens. Absolutely no hint of the alcohol in it. If this was the profile/character the brewer was attempting to produce, they succeeded in spades. Many will say this is a weak weizen bock but this ignores is unique mildness and vinous qualities.

750ml capped bottle pours a hazy golden orange color with a 2 finger white head that retains well and leaves some pretty nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is banana and yeast with slight notes of citrus. Taste is a fruity and malty sweetness with a grassy hop bitterness and a dry yeasty finish. Medium bodied with some nice carbonation. This is quite an exquisite weizen that is quite tasty and thoroughly enjoyable.

draft at Blue Monk, very good hefe, orangish pour, fluffy white head. Fuller bodied. clove, banana, citrus notes. Great stuff

Yellow with a white head. Aroma is yeast, wheat and banana. Flavor is heavy on the banana with some clove and wheat character. Very nice. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Cloudy straw colour, rich head. Evident pear aroma. Sweet and full bodied with pear, banana and caramel. Mildly warming finish. Nice modern style hop weisse, where the exotic hops remains reasonably subtle.

Cannot go wrong with Schneider and Sonnes in any form. Weiss beer perfection, now they’re playing with hops...

Pours a hazy orange with a large foamy white head. Aroma of ripe banana, clove, white grapes and champagne. Flavor of white wine...almost straight up carbonated white wine. Really showcases the Nelson hops. Some banana and clove.

This beer reminds me a pale version of Tap5. Not so intense and interesting. I’d rather by another tap5.

Flaska från Systembolaget. Mörkt gyllene vätska med högt skum. Tydliga aromer av frukt gräs och inslag av banan. Lagom balans mellan sötma och beska. Torr smak.

Mostly clear golden color, not much head but a thin layer of foam clings to the surface for some time after pouring. Light fruity aroma, almost flowery. Flavor is like a mildly dry hefeweizen. Pretty tasty, especially if you dislike the typical banana/clove character of German wheat beers, but didn’t knock my socks off.
