3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
(on bottle) Medium to big malt nose and a very sweet taste. No faults here, and as the drinks settles ther are and short, sharp bitterness from the malts too. Very nice, clear, cheastnut brown and a steady, foamy head.

On tap at the Brauerei Schnupp Gashof.
Sadly all the beers from this family brewery have a huge diacetyl house charecteristic. In the lighter beers it renders them almost undrinkable unless you are washing down movie-theater popcorn. In the Dunkel, the buttery house quality moves towards a butterscotch quality and allows the beer to be more consumable.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
The kind of beer I just want to drink all night from a thin lipped galss that enhances the bitterness / maltiness. Well balanced and so clean. Not distinctive insofaras hitting you over the head with any one characteristic but wonderful color and somewhat craggy head lead to a regal balance of hoppiness and caramel malt that grows on me like a partner with hidden talents.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Swing-top. Very inviting nutty aroma of caramel, yeast, toffee, and bread/pretzel malt. Orange-amber pour, head is beige. Medium bitterness and light sweetness. Breadish through and through, natural and earthy (composty?), ends very hoppily and with a touch of toast. Body’s a touch light, but the prickly spiciness / pepper helps. After my palate fully adjusts, it finds light fruitiness. Good character.
