Schöfferhofer German Wheat Beer Hefeweizen is brewed in Bavarian tradition using wheat malt. The live yeast gives bottle "conditioning" guaranteeing a refreshing fruity flavor. The yeast sediment also leads to the "cloudy" nature of the beer. Care needs to be taken when pouring. Tilt glass and pour slowly. Before pouring last quarter, roll bottle gently back and forward until sediment is dissolved.

Thnx to Matt. Pours clear blonde, good white head. Smell is overripe bananas, very intensely so. Taste is mildly bitter, with a powerfull banana-yeast flavor. Ok .

Ein passables Weizen. Leckeres Aroma, voller Banane. Es wäre ein gutes Weizen, allerdings ist es sehr dünn. Leider fehlt die typische Weizen Rezens. Insgesamt solide.

Bottle from Aldi. Pours a cloudy golden colour with a good off white head. The aroma is slightly fusty citrus and bread. The tate starts with spice and citurs before a little banana comes in on the finish. Not packed full of flavour, but light and refreshing. Good for a summers day.

0.5l bottle. Hazy golden color with white head. Aroma is wheat, cloves and yeast. Taste is sweet with banana and wheat. Medium body and soft carbonation. Overall it’s pretty good Hefeweizen, although I expected little more banana character in aroma.

500ml Bottle from Aldi, Chapel, Derbyshire, £1.25. A very decent if unexciting wheat beer. All the expected notes for the style, sweet, almost sickly aroma, bready, malty flavour, thick, smooth palate. One complaint is that by the second half the sweetness gets a little cloying.

A great friend of mine simply loathe this beer.So I think unconscionably I had a kind prejudice against this one. Refreshing ,sweet, fruity , annoying.

Bottle. Golden hazy. Wheaty malty, bit stuffy murky nose. Clove, but not much of the usual weiss esters. Med bodied, wheaty flavoured. Bit dull, thin flavoured. Wheat. Wheat.

Bottle from Aldi during budget month. Nose is not promising banana, lemon, yeast, slightly stale. Taste lots of wheat, cloves, dough, banana, a little bubble gum, a very unhappy dry stale note matching the nose, wheat and cloves in the finish, with a slight metallic note. Mouthfeel is what you want. It’s a below average wheat beer, apart from the stale metallic note which is actively bad. Not sure if it was a duff bottle or a duff beer, but I think it’s cheap for a reason... I think I will try it again given it’s price.
