An impressive pour as a huge, off-white head towered stiffly beyond the brim of my Weizen glass & remained thick and foamy atop an opaque yet carbonated sandy-orange body. Banana
yeastiness over Ovaltine maltiness suggests that this would be nice for breakfast! Phenolic Band-Aid notes detract, but roasted notes emerge late bringing it back up to par. Creamy and full bodied with a grapeskin finish. Malty flavor with a spicy lift of carbonation and mild, milky sourness... but the base is fruity plantains. As mentioned, the finish is a little chalky and astringent which prevents the flavor from lingering. In all, a very nice Hefeweizen.

Not only my 1100th rating, but my 100th German bier and my 100th wheat style!

warriorx99 (85), USA Mar 4, 2006 Bottled. Poors a hazy golden color with a lot of head. Smells fruity with hints of wheat, banana, and citrus. Medium bodied, easy to drink, with citrus and wheat flavor. Finishes quick and is a little watered down, but still a great hef. Cornfield (4409), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Aug 8, 2006 Beautiful pour, a huge rocky head atop a hazy pale amber body with a continual stream of carbonation bubbles. The aroma is filled with slightly overly ripe bananas, bubblegum, yeast, soft malt, lemon zest, and a touch of clove. Very creamy mouthfeel for the style, and very much enjoyed. A somewhat acidic taste made me drop the rating a couple of ticks, but over all it’s quite fruity with lightly roasted malts, wheat, and a splash of lemon. Very satisfying drink, quite refreshing.

Sam’s Wine & Spirits, Chicago, IL
Braudog (3464), Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates Sep 9, 2007 From the 0.5L bottle ... poured golden orange, nicely active, with a light forgiving head. Light fruity aroma. The flavor is quite nice ... hint of orange, just a smidge of banana and a twist of yeastiness. Creamy consistency. All together this is a nice summer brew and went well with my spinach-bacon salad. (#3085, 9/9/2007) luvcasks (178), USA May 14, 2006 Aroma: Faintly yesty, with malt and some floral hops in the nose. As the beer warms some banana notes step forward
Appearance: Golden hazy with a large off white head.
Flavor: For a weisse (Wheat Beer) starts with slight bit of tartness followed by banana and melon like fruity characters. The wheat malt provides a nice grainy balance to the restrained spicy and slightly floral hop character.
Palate: The fruity and malt flavors interplay with the slight tart note moved along with a slight bite from the carbonation. The finish is slightly spicy and dry with some fruit lingering making the next relaxed sip equally enjoyable
Overall: Slightly unusual for a Hefe-Weizen. If approached as a Bavarian Weizen with pronounced Fruit notes this may disappoint.. but if approached as a Weiss Bier made for a special occassion it is quite enjoyable
