Bottle. Pours a rather piss yellow with a thin white head. Not looking at all like a marzen, but more like a premium lager. Ugh. Little skunky, grains and caramel. Grainy with a light bitterness and some paper flavors. Not so good.

Schonramer Gold has a thin, white, soapy head and a clear, yellow appearance, with lots of streaming bubbles and decent lacing. The aroma is a wonderful blend of sugar sweetness, bread, crackers, and hop spiciness. Taste is likewise sugary, bready, cracker, and hoppy. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Schonramer Gold finishes crisp, clean, refreshing, and semi-dry. Overall, this is a wonderful beer, and I cannot detect any flaws. RJT.

MartinT (6150) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 3, 2012
My Bottom Line :
Dry haystacks and fresh herbal hops are driven by this Festbier’s fluffy effervescence for a most drinkable and impeccably executed lager.

Further Personal Perceptions :
-A stable head of foam decorates the clear pale straw.
-Hops have citrusy tips which add to the impression of freshness.
-Mouthfeel, flavor profile and finish are all quite delicate.
-This doesn’t have that honeyed cereal heaviness that many Festbiers have. This is süffig to the max.
-Malt flavors may be subtle, but they are polished.

Bottle.

Chipalsa (483) - Florida, USA - DEC 3, 2011
Appearance - yellow and bubbly, fairly appealing with the big sudsy head. Smelled of sourdough bread and hops with light spices. Tasted dry and a tad bitter with only a hint of hops. Finishes light and malty with a high carbonated dryness to give a crisp aftertaste. Not too flavorful but very session-able.

this beer has a real bite tot it. its malty with a real hay-straw like flavor. its hops are medium but it has an unrelenting aftertaste. strong in its flavor though doesn’t look like it.

Clear orange/golden color pour with a thin and almost non-existent head. Smells of sweet malts, slight crisp hops, and a touch of grain on the nose. These aromas translate to the palate as well with the cereal grains coming in near the finish.

ogivlado (4275) - Zagreb, CROATIA - JUL 7, 2011
Bottled 500ml. -from Bier Imperium, Vienna. Yellow/golden coloured, medium sized white head, mild grainy nose. Malty, grainy and weak hoppy herbal with notes of caramel. Dry hoppy finish. Drinkable but pretty ordinary.

BMan1113VR (6146) - Los Angeles, California, USA - APR 12, 2011
Bottle listed at 6% ABV. Pours with a very minimal white head over a clear, vibrant yellow body. Nearly the same color as their pils. No retention from the head, but there is a constant stream of rising bubbles. Aroma seems a bit oxidized. Beyond that it is bready, malty, toasty, with a touch of alcohol. Light alkalinity. Not a super complex malt profile I’d hope for from a Marzen. Flavors also seem a bit oxidized. A notable lingering bitterness as well. Clean fermentation. Bready and grainy. Somewhat flabby. Medium carbonation, a bit thin. Could be old, but I still don’t think it would be a great Marzen because of the lack of malt complexity/richness.
