Im Geruch liegt Malz, Schokolade, Getreide. Dunkelmaziger Anlauf. Danach malzig und würzig. Im Abgang stärker würziger malzig und moderat bitter. Solide.

Thanks to Norbert Dubowy for bringing this home from his latest trip to Germany. Clear dark amber with a big, long-lasting beige head, and swirls of lace. The taste is semi-sweet caramel malt that grows as it moves through the palate, adding light dried fruit cake and molasses. The finish is carbonation followed by mild bitterness. Quite drinkable and refreshing. Recommended.

50cl bottle. PArt of the Oct. 2012 BierZwerg Schönram Brewery of the month sampler. - Finally, they can do it!: a German, yet non-cloying, non-sweet, dry and roasty dark beer which is a pleasure to gulp down. Earthy and dry throughout with hints of coffee/roasted malt, nuts, light spice and dark wood. Medium body, very easily drinkable (especially compared to all the overmalted=sugary, macrobrewed dark crap out here in D), not all too complex but a tasty relief all the same. One of the Schönram sampler’s many pleasant surprises

0.5 L bottle shared by KnutAlbert. Brilliant brownish amber. Firm, lightly tanned head. Fresh bakery and dark dried fruits to the nose. Flavor is dry, light sourish-bready. Discreet bitter tones and hint of canned fruits. Light whitout being thin. Dry malty finish. An elagant, no-nonsense Dunkel.

Medium beige head. Clear deep brown body. Deep earthy caramelly aroma with grainy raisiny notes. Mid-bodied. Mild mouthfeel. Dry earthy raisiny aftertaste with strawy caramel and faint mint notes. Light, elegant, drinkable, and just plain nice. (0.5l bottle shared by KnutAlbert.)

Bottle from BierBayern. Lovely deep amber. True to type, clean flavour. Lots of grain and malt, yet dry, not as sweet as more Northern Dunkels.

Bottle: Clear, almost copper coloured, big stable rocky off-white head, moderate sweetish dark-malty and nutty nose, dried berries underneath; dry malt-bitter flavour, slight sweetness underneath, pretty light bodied; dryish nutty-fruity finish. Very pleasant "unsweet" Dunkel......
