Bottle, courtesy of fonefan. Looking really nice in the glass this one, with it’s clear, amber body and a dense, off-white to beige head on top. The aroma is roasted, almost coffee grit like, some dried fruits too. The flavor is roasted, with some coffee and dried fruits. Medium body and pleasant carbonation. A quite nice one, pleasant and easy drinkable. 110416

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Pours a clear dark amber with an off-white head leaving a little lacework. Sweet caramel and pumpernickel in the nose. Medium body, nuts, brown sugar and pumpernickel with a subdued bitterness. Indeed this is what I usually calls a Mini-Bock. Delicious. 160411

Bottle, slightly aged sample. Nice roasted caramel aroma, light herbal bitterness. Hazy red chestnut, stable brown cream. Light berry fruitiness on the roasted bread and chocolate. Sparkly mouthfeel, chewy, allthough probably a bit drier than usual at this age. Still deliciously drinkable Dunkel.

50cl bottle from the Doemens stash. Clear red color with an off-white head. Simple bready and slightly sweet malt aroma. Clean bready flavor with with light hops and good balance between light sweetness, dry toasty malt flavor and lighter bitterness. Medium-light body. A clean and simple but very well-crafted dunkel.

Sampled draught as "Dunkles Zwickl" Well-carbonated, clear chestnut-coloured beer with very good yellow-beige head and nice lace. Oilpaint, yeasty notes, bread and autumn leaves. Chocolate, dry (black), non-salted Pretzels, dark bread. Medium bodied, bit slick, very little actual yeast in the mouth. Quite palatable; less yeast-intoned than "Zwickl" would implement usually.

Draught at Zum Hirschenwirt Biergarten, Salzburg, Austria. Clear nut brown, small head. Roasty nutty aroma. Mid-sweet with clean, rounded mouthfeel and light body. Roasty malt dominates it and provides flavours of hazelnut and coffee. Low bitterness.
