2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottled 50cl. Icelandic moss, earthy hops, chocolate and boiled vegetables showing up in the nose. Quite "würzig". Good bitterness. Medium bodied. I didn’t enjoy this beer all that much.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
500 ml bottle bought at Great Food Hall in Pacific Place, Admiralty.
Clear copper amber colour; One and a quarter finger head and crumpety off-white foam which last for 90 seconds; Fair sticky lacing and fizzy carbonation; Fragrant and sweet aroma of pretty rich dark malt, with moderate roastyness, sugar, caramel, strong toffee, faint coffee, light mustiness, dark bread, light lemon and strong grass; Medium sweet taste of dark malt, with very strong metallic, strong roastyness, strong musty, strong caramel, sugar, dark chocolate, dark bread, yeast, lemon, fairly strong bitter hops and strong grass; Close to medium body. Slick and slightly thick palate; Mouth feel is strongly roasted and pretty rich dark malt, with mouthful of dark bread. Sweetness and metallic was strong initially but subsided with further sips, but mustiness remains. Caramel and toffee formed its backbone, rich and slick. A bit simple, but all ingredients are in heavy attack mode. Pretty good!... Hoppiness is lemon and strong grass in nose and more so in taste. Bitterness is moderately strong for an abrupt, grassy malty- bitter finish; Slightly dry after taste. Bready and toffee-ish to mouth.
Comments: As I said, every ingredients and taste in this beer go all out to maximum effect. The result is simple-minded to some other top Dunkels (i.e. neither lively nor creamy), but it’s old-fashioned, honest and malty as hell. Enjoyable as liquid dark bread, literally!

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
500mL bottle purchased at Bottle Barn in Santa Rosa. The aroma has a pleasant sweet toastiness, with just a little chocolate roast, too. There is a bit of a weird floral vibe to this, however. Transparent amber colored body with a medium, strong cream-colored head present. Starts with a bit of a sweet, toffee-like flavor. Lightly toasted in the middle with some caramel malts. Finishes with a bit of a swampy character before more toast comes in at the finish. This is good, but seems like there is just something that is off.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Dilo in Bochum. The beer has got a deep hazy dark brown colour with a low head and medium body. Aroma of malt and bread. Taste of roasted hops, dark bread, malt, leaves and woods. Hints of barley. Malty finish. Easy and smooth to drink, not a bad one.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at Bierstube. Clear dark copper brown with just a slim off-white head. Glossy dark amber red fruit. Aged vegetables. Vegemite. Celery hearts in red wine. Feels juicy but a bit too sweet. Still has nicely complex flavors.

Many thanks for this bottle to kevnic2008. Kolor piwa rubinowo czerwony, srednia piana ale dosc trwala. W smaku slodowo palone ale niezbyt slodko, goryczkowo nieco i wytrawnie nawet. Wanillia w tle oraz owoce sezonowe. Pachnie nieco to piwo marmolada lub powidlami sliwkowymi.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Schönramer Altbayrisch Dunkel has an extremely thick, cream-colored, crackling head, a clear, copper color, and very heavy lacing left behind. The aroma is of sweet, syrupy, brown bread, and the flavor is the same, with appropriate, balancing bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium and chewy, and this one finishes crisp and refreshing. RJT
