4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
It’s dark amber with a wine red twist and a creamy white head. The aroma has notes of nuts, dark syrup, caramel and roasted malt. The flavor is moderately sweet with notes of dark syrup, nuts, roasted malt, caramel and the finish is roasted with hints of coffee. It’s exceptionally nice, probably the best dunkel I have had!

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from Ledgers. It pours a rather clear brown color with a small khaki head. The aroma is really nice and dry with baked bread, toast, light hints of cocoa and a berry like hop character, but mostly dry, toasty malts. The flavor is similarly dry with toast, dry cocoa powder hints of nutmeg and almost an oaky quality to the mouthfeel. Very tasty. It almost reminds me of a really good brown ale. I enjoyed this beer thoroughly.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from BierBayern.
Lovely deep amber. True to type, clean flavour. Lots of grain and malt, yet dry, not as sweet as more Northern Dunkels.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
50cl bottle. PArt of the Oct. 2012 BierZwerg Schönram Brewery of the month sampler.
- Finally, they can do it!: a German, yet non-cloying, non-sweet, dry and roasty dark beer which is a pleasure to gulp down. Earthy and dry throughout with hints of coffee/roasted malt, nuts, light spice and dark wood. Medium body, very easily drinkable (especially compared to all the overmalted=sugary, macrobrewed dark crap out here in D), not all too complex but a tasty relief all the same. One of the Schönram sampler’s many pleasant surprises

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
50cl bottle from the Doemens stash. Clear red color with an off-white head. Simple bready and slightly sweet malt aroma. Clean bready flavor with with light hops and good balance between light sweetness, dry toasty malt flavor and lighter bitterness. Medium-light body. A clean and simple but very well-crafted dunkel.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Pours a clear dark amber with an off-white head leaving a little lacework. Sweet caramel and pumpernickel in the nose. Medium body, nuts, brown sugar and pumpernickel with a subdued bitterness. Indeed this is what I usually calls a Mini-Bock. Delicious. 160411
