Whiskey Aged Imperial Porter. Poured from a bomber into a tulip on 07.04.14. A: Sweet whiskey, vanilla, and chocolate. Whiskey and vanilla were very strong. A: 6 finger off-white head with an easy pour. The head stays. Midnight black body with some red. T: Vanilla, whiskey, and chocolate dominate. Roastiness, peanut, cinnamon, and grape are subtle. P: Creamy. Somewhat light, but good for a porter. O: This was easy to drink. The alcohol was nicely hidden, but it wasn’t a very big beer anyway. It had a constant 3 finger head throughout. I even saved some for the next day and it still had a 3 finger head. The whiskey was nice without overwhelming everything else. It was stronger in the aroma though.

Bottle... Pours dark brown with a mid-sized, creamy, khaki head that doesn’t fully dissipate. The aromatic highlights are brownies, fudge, dark coffee and liquor. I’m not picking up traditional bourbon barrel characteristics here. The flavor provides deep roastiness, dark chocolate, charcoal and alcohol. Boozy, nutty, warming finish. Bottle courtesy of newcigarz!

Bottle (22oz $12): Dark brown with very big head. Lost of carbonation. A little thinner than I expected, but that’s fine. I did not get a lot of strong aromas, but taste was roasted chocolate with some bitterness. Carbonation tingled the tong. Slight warming, but bourbon pretty subtle. Too much carbonation.

Bomber. Straightfoward mediumly bourboned impy porter here. Nose of vanilla, oak, roasted bourbon. Flavors are dark fruits, roast, wood, dark cocoa, and bourbon finish. Just a teenee tiny bit thin.

Just a lovely, smooth lingering beer. Lots of bitter chocolate and cocoa. Bourbon. Lingers forever on the tongue.

"This one was so close to being very very good. Aroma was solid, but not as great as the flavor. Roasted coffee, vanilla, chocolate, bourbon. The fault lies in the obvious overcarbonation. Took a lot away from the feel and even a little from the flavor. With a normal amount of the bubbly, woulda been 8-8-8-9-8. As is...8-8-6-8-8."

UPDATED: SEP 12, 2014 smells like doctor pepper nose, slight creamy. Big full body, bourbon, smooth creamy mouth with dark fruit. Big warming finish. Bourbon has toned down. Smooth as hell. Warming finish. This beer sits on your palate a long time. Lovely.

Bottle. New 2014 vintage, aged in whiskey barrels. Pours a near black color with a small tan head on it. Nose has some roasting in there, but is predominantly whiskey forward. Taste is lightly chocolatey, with a good amount of roasting in there. Feels smooth like velvet. Yum.

Glass at Mongers. Pours a dark chocolate color with a medium brown head. A light nose of whiskey, more charred wood, some chocolates and vanilla. Sweet flavors, ash, milky, vanilla, bourbon, pretty smooth, oats or grains, roast, a bit of smoke.

Bottle, 2013 vintage. Black pour with big khaki head. Aroma of alcohol, bourbon, vanilla, and perhaps a bit of tartness. Fairly big alcohol right off the bat, and an alcohol burn at the finish.
