Vanilla, coconut, dark roasty nose; big caramel, chocolate, slight figginess and ample porter roastiness. nice carbonation on ze tongue, not much left behind. Alcohol level is nice, high but not "oh no now I've gone blind." Very nice, mellow one. Might want to get one or two for cellaring.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle:   Nearly black, huge frothy beige head, spotty lacing.   The last bit of pour on this one was
nothing but foam!   Soft roast, a little apple skin on the nose.   Not getting any bourbon here.   Very airy on
the tongue, roasty, a bit acrid and astringent.   Here I can notice some woodiness and bourbon.   However, its real
airy and foamy.   Outside of being real foamy and airy, body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Finishes acrid, acidic,
astringent, with some bourbon notes and faint roast and pale fruit skin.   Slightly metallic too.   Not what I was
hoping for, although I have heard of there being some issues with some of the beers.   Damnit all!   Does have some
lingering bourbon bits tho.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle as an extra from a trade with nate321, thanks a lot Nate! Pours pitch black with a thick "mousse"-like head, quite good looking. Aroma is chocolate and coffee and no bourbon, still a really nice porter nose though. Taste is quite dry with a lot of roasted flavors. Carbonation was a touch higher than I’d like but it’s not that bad, really. Again, no bourbon flavors (or maybe the tinyest bit) and alcohol is completely hidden. Overall a good porter that has no defect except for the fact that it has none of the advertised barrel aging characteristics.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle (22 oz). Shared by mathieuc, thanks! Black with a medium beige head and good lacing. Aroma is of roasted malt, chocolate, earthy notes and light bourbon. Taste is slightly to moderately sweet with roasted malt, chocolate, light bourbon, vanilla and a tiny presence of dark fruits. Medium body. Good carbonation. Not really complex, but well balanced. I usually like when barrel treatment are discrete, but this one is maybe a tad too light. This is a good Porter with no major flaws, just not one that your stunned by.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Lots of wood and smoke from this heavily roasted porter. Huge carbonation contributes to a full mouthfeel. Vanilla, licorice, and coffee flavors merge for a dry finish. Perfect with chocolate!

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours very black with a 4+ finger foamy tan head. Given the huge head aroma is problematic - but at least chocolate and bourbon. Full bodied. Flavor is earthy chocolate with some very smooth burnt malt, and a good deal of bourbon/vanilla. There may be some oak astringency, but ... There’s a little dark fruit and maybe some earthy hop. It is dry, astringent, and arguably quite bitter. Gets a little dark fruit in the long finish. Very tasty.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber. Appearance is black with a layer of light brown foam. Plenty of bourbon, vanilla, brown sugar and bittersweet chocolate in the aroma. The taste is dark chocolate, roasted malt and caramelized sugars upfront followed by dark fruit and vanilla notes. Also a mild bourbon presence throughout. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied and slightly creamy with moderate carbonation and a dry, charred oak finish. Similar to Caldera’s Mogli in a lot of ways.

22oz bottle from the beer fridge at the lake, split with dwm1034. Thanks! Pours a dark brown color wi a thin tan head. Aroma is bourbon, oak, chocolate, vanilla. Medium on the palate with average carbonation. Flavor is sweet, flavor is sweet, malty, roasty, coffee, chocolate, with a smooth, bourbon finish. This beer is very tasty. My only want would be a little more body and creamier carbonation.

Bottle @ The BeerMongers... Poured black with a moderate, light khaki head. This hit the spot. A swirl of the glass brought out lots of bourbon on the nose. Full bodied, nice mouthfeel. Sometimes Imp. Porters fall a little thin. Nice barrel character without overwhelming the whole beer. Balanced and a worthy Bourbon Barrel aged beer. Smooth, some roast, bourbon, oak, dark toasted malted sugars, with vanilla cream and dark chocolate. Schooner is doing some nice things and I look forward to more of their barrel program beers.
