Vanilla, coconut, dark roasty nose; big caramel, chocolate, slight figginess and ample porter roastiness. nice carbonation on ze tongue, not much left behind. Alcohol level is nice, high but not "oh no now I've gone blind." Very nice, mellow one. Might want to get one or two for cellaring. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

smells like doctor pepper nose, slight creamy. Big full body, bourbon, smooth creamy mouth with dark fruit. Big warming finish. Bourbon has toned down. Smooth as hell. Warming finish.

Bottle. New 2014 vintage, aged in whiskey barrels. Pours a near black color with a small tan head on it. Nose has some roasting in there, but is predominantly whiskey forward. Taste is lightly chocolatey, with a good amount of roasting in there. Feels smooth like velvet. Yum.

Glass at Mongers. Pours a dark chocolate color with a medium brown head. A light nose of whiskey, more charred wood, some chocolates and vanilla. Sweet flavors, ash, milky, vanilla, bourbon, pretty smooth, oats or grains, roast, a bit of smoke.

Bottle, 2013 vintage. Black pour with big khaki head. Aroma of alcohol, bourbon, vanilla, and perhaps a bit of tartness. Fairly big alcohol right off the bat, and an alcohol burn at the finish.

Bottle:   Nearly black, huge frothy beige head, spotty lacing.   The last bit of pour on this one was nothing but foam!   Soft roast, a little apple skin on the nose.   Not getting any bourbon here.   Very airy on the tongue, roasty, a bit acrid and astringent.   Here I can notice some woodiness and bourbon.   However, its real airy and foamy.   Outside of being real foamy and airy, body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Finishes acrid, acidic, astringent, with some bourbon notes and faint roast and pale fruit skin.   Slightly metallic too.   Not what I was hoping for, although I have heard of there being some issues with some of the beers.   Damnit all!   Does have some lingering bourbon bits tho.

Bottle as an extra from a trade with nate321, thanks a lot Nate! Pours pitch black with a thick "mousse"-like head, quite good looking. Aroma is chocolate and coffee and no bourbon, still a really nice porter nose though. Taste is quite dry with a lot of roasted flavors. Carbonation was a touch higher than I’d like but it’s not that bad, really. Again, no bourbon flavors (or maybe the tinyest bit) and alcohol is completely hidden. Overall a good porter that has no defect except for the fact that it has none of the advertised barrel aging characteristics.

Bottle (22 oz). Shared by mathieuc, thanks! Black with a medium beige head and good lacing. Aroma is of roasted malt, chocolate, earthy notes and light bourbon. Taste is slightly to moderately sweet with roasted malt, chocolate, light bourbon, vanilla and a tiny presence of dark fruits. Medium body. Good carbonation. Not really complex, but well balanced. I usually like when barrel treatment are discrete, but this one is maybe a tad too light. This is a good Porter with no major flaws, just not one that your stunned by.

Lots of wood and smoke from this heavily roasted porter. Huge carbonation contributes to a full mouthfeel. Vanilla, licorice, and coffee flavors merge for a dry finish. Perfect with chocolate!

Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours very black with a 4+ finger foamy tan head. Given the huge head aroma is problematic - but at least chocolate and bourbon. Full bodied. Flavor is earthy chocolate with some very smooth burnt malt, and a good deal of bourbon/vanilla. There may be some oak astringency, but ... There’s a little dark fruit and maybe some earthy hop. It is dry, astringent, and arguably quite bitter. Gets a little dark fruit in the long finish. Very tasty.
