3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Dogbrick (6048) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAR 12, 2013
Sample at the brewpub. This beer pours a hazy yellow-gold color with a medium fluffy white head that dissipates steadily. Sticky rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of yeast, hops and wheat. Light-bodied with flavors of herbal hops, yeast and banana. The finish is mildly bitter hops up front with a citrus and banana aftertaste. Decent, hoppier Hefe overall.

On draft at the brewery. Hazy maize colour, light fluff of head. Wheat and lemon scent, touched off by banana and spice flavour on the first sip. Hints of citrus. Hearty taste, finishes dry. Lots of carbonation.

Smells pretty bad. Very strong of lemons and sugar, like lemonade. Wow. This is much better than it smells. Not too wheaty or lemony. Not my style, but not bad. Very cloudy yellow.

Tap at Beveridge. Cloudy yellow with a white skiff. Dusty lemon scent. Lemon banana flavour and somewhat refreshing. Reminds me though of a jar of lemon spread.

Tap @ Crown Bar. Hazy gold pour with a minimal white head leaving minimal lace. Medium-light body with moderate carbonation. Lemon zest and wheat bread notes. Some subtle spiciness enhances the brew. Nice balance of sweet and sour, as a German or Belgian wheat should be. Sampled in the dead of winter, so possibly not at its peak.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Nalu (216) - Washington, USA - OCT 11, 2010
Tap @ Parkway. Opaque gold pour with a scant white head leaving no lace. Light-bodied, crisp and astringent. A bit of smokiness early on, gives way to a spiciness (clove, lemon zest) in the middle and finish. There is some toast in the finish. Vigorously carbonated. Would like to see more body and middle weight. Still, it’s a very sessionable and clean Bavarian with a hint of Belgian ale.
2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 riversideAK (5413) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - NOV 21, 2008
Pale yellow pour, hazy with no head. The aroma is light banana and clove and a touch of citrus perhaps. The flavor has a touch of sweetness, but did not really exist past that. Thin and too carbonated. Nothing doing.

Taster - Washington Beer Commission Oktoberfest - Seattle, WA
Aroma – Decent aroma with a light hops backing.
Appearance – Golden yellow in color, clear with a light head.
Flavor – Nice malts with a decent use of hops this beer tasted over carbonated.
Palate – OK Mouthfeel, nice texture with a too much carbonation finish.
Overall – This was put out too soon or just not ready to be done yet. I think this beer was infected and had some brewing issues. Need to try again please.
2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 after4ever (5290) - Brier, Washington, USA - AUG 18, 2008
Draft at Brouwer’s. Man, what an underwhelming effort. I still have high hopes for SE but definitely not because of this beer. Comes out a cloudy bright lemony yellow with an eerily bright platinum blonde head that sticks around forever. The colors look synthetic--this beer is not as attractive looking as that description might lead you to believe. Mild, musty, slightly foot-sweaty nose. Fizzy, watery body. More sweat and must on the mid-palate. I am 100% sure this beer does not match the picture the brewer had in his head when he set out to make a hef.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 BillKismet (3000) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JUN 7, 2008
Straw yellow-banana blonde with crisp head. Nice clovey aroma. This one straddles the Belgian/German category. Quite light with strong cloviness dominating flavor, though banana does punch through at the end. Smooth, little viscosity. This one would be much improved if it had more carbonation. As it stands, this was served rather flat. More clove-smokiness on the finish.
