BillKismet (1476), Seattle, Washington, USA Jun 7, 2008 Straw yellow-banana blonde with crisp head. Nice clovey aroma. This one straddles the Belgian/German category. Quite light with strong cloviness dominating flavor, though banana does punch through at the end. Smooth, little viscosity. This one would be much improved if it had more carbonation. As it stands, this was served rather flat. More clove-smokiness on the finish.
riversideAK (1755), Shoreline, Washington, USA Nov 21, 2008 Pale yellow pour, hazy with no head. The aroma is light banana and clove and a touch of citrus perhaps. The flavor has a touch of sweetness, but did not really exist past that. Thin and too carbonated. Nothing doing. Aroma – Decent aroma with a light hops backing.
Appearance – Golden yellow in color, clear with a light head.
Flavor – Nice malts with a decent use of hops this beer tasted over carbonated.
Palate – OK Mouthfeel, nice texture with a too much carbonation finish.
Overall – This was put out too soon or just not ready to be done yet. I think this beer was infected and had some brewing issues. Need to try again please.
after4ever (1925), Brier, Washington, USA Aug 18, 2008 Draft at Brouwer’s. Man, what an underwhelming effort. I still have high hopes for SE but definitely not because of this beer. Comes out a cloudy bright lemony yellow with an eerily bright platinum blonde head that sticks around forever. The colors look synthetic--this beer is not as attractive looking as that description might lead you to believe. Mild, musty, slightly foot-sweaty nose. Fizzy, watery body. More sweat and must on the mid-palate. I am 100% sure this beer does not match the picture the brewer had in his head when he set out to make a hef.
