3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at Schooner Exact, pours a deep dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out loads of whiskey barrels upfront, along with light caramel, and alcohol. Flavour is heavy on the whiskey as well, with huge boozy alcoholic woody notes, and more whiskey. Quite overwhelming, though somehow still drinkable, albeit slowly. Dominated by the whiskey - decent.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft - Boozy bourbon notes, apple and oak. Cloudy brown with a decent beige head. Boozy bourbon, some anise and lots of booze in the finish. A bit too hot for me.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Pours a very dark brown color with a moderate tan head on there. Nose is a little boozy with a lot of wood and bourbon to it, and little from the base beer. Taste is a bit sweet with caramel and a fair amount of bourbon. Ok.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber brought back from Portland, OR. Rich chocolate malt aroma with good bourbon, oak, and vanilla notes. Pours dark brown with a large light brown head with good retention and decent lacing. Starts smooth with good chocolate as well as some caramel flavors. Finishes mostly smooth with just a bit of dryness with the bourbon, oak and vanilla coming through nicely. Good brew that hides the alcohol well while being quite warming.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A very well balanced ale. Rich and luxurious, equal parts dark and chocolatey, roasted, and vanilla Oaked goodness. Hops still shine through the barrels a bit. An excellent brew."

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
220z bomber c/o Elise. 2013 Vintage. Cherry brown-burgundy body. Big, fluffy beige head. Kind of a mellow aroma...caramel, chocolate, oak, whiskey. Sweet and rich, but somewhat delicate on the palate still. The big brown winter ale still shows, luscious brown malt tones, and it has a pleasant balance to it. Doesn’t have that taste like they threw a liter of booze into the barrel to prime it. A really easy drinking 9% beer, smooth and easy on the palate. Good stuff. Never a sugar bomb or cloying, which is rare for the style in my opinion.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Shared bomber, poured to snifters showing a clarified mahogany color, with a modest layer of off white foam that reduced to a persistent ring, and wavy cling to the lacing. The aroma was grape, light spice, with vanilla, and a note similar to toasted marshmallow, that lightly smoothed the tartness of the fruit. The taste was similar, medium+ bodied, with some dryness, bourbony alcohol presence, but a little less impressive than the nose. Tasty, nonetheless.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark toffee colored pour. Small off-white head. Plenty of lacing. Big aroma of vanilla, caramel and hops. Some dark fruit notes. Taste is a very nice combination of caramel, hops, vanilla, bourbon, some chocolate. Bitter and warm.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
2013 Vintage Bomber. Dark mahogany colored with a substantial layer of light brown foam. Aroma blends vanilla, toffee, bourbon and dark fruits. Taste opens up with a decent amount of bourbon, caramel and butterscotch upfront along with some chocolate and earthy hops toward the end. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with moderate carbonation and more oak and caramel in the finish. The overall flavor is on the lighter end of the spectrum for a Bourbon Barrel Aged beer and could use a bit more complexity from the aging process.
