3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Tap @ The BeerMongers... Poured deep, ruby with a moderate, light tan head. Nose had whiskey-alcohol notes. Nice sweetness from malt/vanilla/bourbon up front. Some bitterness half way through and it was balanced or cut nicely by some oak/woodiness. Hoppy the Woodsman lives up to his name.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown color with a moderate tan head on there. Nose is a little boozy with a lot of wood and bourbon to it, and little from the base beer. Taste is a bit sweet with caramel and a fair amount of bourbon. Ok.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Maroon-amber body. It does have a nice amber-malt, woodsy, hoppy aroma. Decent malt-backbone with a well-rounded hoppy-emphatic flavor. Medium-bodied, even luscious.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at the brewery. Pours a lightly hazed, richer brown colored body with a finger-width, creamy, light brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is bourbon and sweeter caramels with some chocolate, a moderate vanilla and oak, and touches of roast. Flavor is similar. Lots of bourbon and sweeter caramels and toffees up front. A good amount of wood, some chocolate, vanilla, and earth before this finishes dry and woody with lots of bourbon and sweeter caramels as well as a touch of roast. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium-thin body and a soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, a pretty solid barrel-aged beer. Lots of bourbon and wood with a sweeter malt backing to balance. Nice one.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Shared bomber, poured to snifters showing a clarified mahogany color, with a modest layer of off white foam that reduced to a persistent ring, and wavy cling to the lacing. The aroma was grape, light spice, with vanilla, and a note similar to toasted marshmallow, that lightly smoothed the tartness of the fruit. The taste was similar, medium+ bodied, with some dryness, bourbony alcohol presence, but a little less impressive than the nose. Tasty, nonetheless.
