fiulijn (15227) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 9, 2014
Draught at Seattle Tap Room (Sea-Tac Airport)
Amber color, clean, with creamy head. The aroma is lightly fruity, and lightly sweaty. Quite common malt flavor, dry, with rather strong bitterness and some hop resins.
Clean, but obvious, Pale Ale.

Hanuta06 (355) - Washington, USA - NOV 15, 2013
Serving: from tap at Schooner Exact Tap Room. Aroma: light floral hop. Appearance: small, rocky, off-white, initial head with fair lacing and mostly diminishing longevity. Hazy, medium-amber body. Taste: lightly bitter initial flavor and lightly bitter, grapefruit finish with average duration. Palate: medium body with watery texture and lively carbonation. Overall: very good. Hoppy enough to add some flavor but not overly bitter.

mattyhennessy (342) - Highton, AUSTRALIA - JUL 22, 2013
Pours a copper colour, almost to the point of being red. Sweet and not overly hoppy with citrus notes that prevail. The flavour is finished with fruity notes leaving more to be desired. Could have a little better head retention.

after4ever (6251) - Brier, Washington, USA - APR 13, 2013
Draft at the brewery. Pours a slightly hazy medium amber with bright orange overtones and a light, loose off white head. Very little stringy lace. Huge orange nose, bursting with fruity goodness. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Lightly toasted caramel with tons of oily hop fruitiness on the mid palate. Light crisp orange peel finish.

Dogbrick (8658) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAR 12, 2013
Sample at the brewpub. Pours a clear orange color with a medium white head that dissipates steadily. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops, toasted malt and citrus. Medium body with flavors of floral hops, malt and citrus. The finish is moderately bitter with an herbal hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

Alphadelic (1761) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JAN 10, 2013
clear chestnut colour. The nose is deliciously nutty with a hint of cocoa powder. Underlying hop. A good butterness is matched by sweeter nut flavours and some drier walnut. Smooth.

riversideAK (5626) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - JUN 12, 2012
Nose of toasted malts, a little pale sweetness, interesting hop nose - floral at times, minty, peppery, and lightly citrusy. Pours golden amber, creamy frothy head. Flavors of toasted malts, a little caramel, light sweetness, peppery minty floral hops with a light citrus essence as well. Malt base more assertive than hops. Interesting. Drinks alright.

Interesting to see the Zythos hop featured in a stand-alone role rather than in a supporting one. Unforutnately it comes across as a bit muddied and un-pronounced. Combining the best qualities of Cascade, Amarillo, and Centennial hops sounds like a good idea right? In theory this is true, but in this particular example their individual contributions are blurred and hard to differentiate. It’s an american pale ale. So don’t expect big hops or big malt. Pours a copperish golden with some decent head retention. Aroma is blurred, a caricature of pacific northwest beers...some undefined citrus, a bit of pine, and some resin. Malt profile is very basic and somewhat flat, very light caramel and very little to no biscuit character. Neutral yeast strain should help play up the hop profile, but there’s not a whole lot to promote. The finish seems quite routine and is missing a certain something. Average to below average showing at best.
