goldtwins (3747), Nesconset, New York, USA Sep 4, 2007 Casked (in bottle). Lightly hazed dark mahogony with a golden tint and minimal off-white head. The aroma had a very nice aged malt character. Sweet and malty with a hint of peat, vanilla, and toffee. Light alcohol and sherry. The flavor was malty with notes of toffee, vanilla, and peat on the finish. Creamy silky mouthfeel. Some warmth. kp (6300), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Name: Casked Scotch Ale
CaptainCougar (4687), Rockville, Maryland, USA May 5, 2007 Bottle labeled Casked Scotch Ale sampled on 2/26/07: Pours a transparent copper mahogany with a thin ring of off-white head. Complex, aged earthy caramel aroma has a touch of raisins, vanilla, and licorice. Body starts with a viscous, dark caramel sweetness and a smooth, complex raisin and brown sugar balance toward a slightly toasty caramel finish. A nice brew. stoutlover72 (1342), NorCal, California, USA Mar 12, 2006 I think other than Schooners VBOS and Old Woody, this is my next favorite of theirs. Oaky and whiksy notes in the flavor, roasty and vanilla notes in the nose. Delightful on the palate, not harsh at all. This could be consumed in large quantities all night. aspidites (1268), manteca, California, USA Feb 7, 2006 Nutty and slightly roasted nose with no detectable peat notes. Very malt forwaed body with some plum, vanilla and cocoa notes. Good conditioning and color make for a nice brown ale with little scotch influence.
