Phil_L (100), Kent, England Feb 13, 2008 BeerGeeks - 12/2/08 - Just noticed that this is 15%, wtf! Amazing stuff. Tonight I had a numberof sour ales that would draw so much credit if there were a tad more awareness. Between this and The Stockton Sour, and the Freiky Kreiky, were my beers of the evening. Lovely red hue, bright white head, and very cherry pie. Cherry pit on the finish. The funk isn’t too big, but I have been told that the more recent taste is far more lactic. Excellent Beer.
argo0 (6176), Washington DC, USA Aug 8, 2008 (BCTC, handbottle, thanks frumptydumpty ) Hazy copper body with minimal white head. Aroma is medium sweet, sour cherry, some funk, dusky. Taste is moderately sweet, sour cherry, light raspberry, funk, alcohol. Medium body, light acidity. acrdz (4302), Boulder, Colorado, USA Aug 6, 2008 Soft, woody cream nose – tart, lightly acidic, candied. Flavor is fruity and soft, medium tartness, but thick and full on the palate… cherries, sweetened red wine, lactic acid, and raspberries (even more so than the cherry note, which is strange)… stemmy, raw, raspberries. Quite good. AgentSteve (786), Livermore, California, USA Aug 5, 2008 I think this is batch 2, as I hear batch one is sweeter of the two. Pours a beautiful ruby red with no head. The nose is tart and vineous along with cherry and oak. The flavor is wonerfullly complex, with all the flavors in the nose taking tuns standing out. The finish is nutty and oak. smooth on the palate. Thanks for the bottle Craig! TURDFERGUSON (1136), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA Aug 4, 2008 12oz handbottle, courtesy of FrumptyDumpty, Friday at BCTC. Thanks again, Ryan! Pours a bright red with a small white head. Nose of sour cherry candy. Flavor has more sour cherry, a bit of sugary sweetness, and some tart raspberry. kmweaver (2012), Takoma Park, Maryland, USA Aug 4, 2008 12oz handbottle, courtesy of FrumptyDumpty, Friday at BCTC. Thanks again, Ryan! Pours a slightly hazy, ruby red-raspberry color; thin pinkish head; very nice color. Lots of funky red raspberries, pittiness, and light citrus in the aroma; strongly tarted up; some toastiness comes through. Loads of sour cherries, raspberries, and tart citrus upfront; very nicely soured; pitty red fruits, lightly medicinal; very soft edges. Long, long finish: tart red raspberries, cherries, and a touch of toasty oak; long-lasting red fruits.
