hopdog (4779), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 12, 2007 22oz bottle acquired in trade with stoutlover72 (thanks!). Poured a dark black color with brown edges and an averaged sized brown head. Aromas of oat, lactose, cocoa, roast, light coffee, and vanilla. A lot going on in the aroma with everything working very well together. Tastes of oats, chocolate, roast, vanilla and verly light coffee. Nice smooth and creamy body. Nice... CaptainCougar (4687), Rockville, Maryland, USA May 5, 2007 Bottle sampled on 2/21/07: Pours a nearly opaque dark mahogany with a thin, spotty-lacing light tan head. Sweet roasted, toasty dark caramel malty aroma has a touch of earthy oats. Body starts fairly full and sweet with some slightly fruity, toasty caramel flavor and a smooth, earthy, roasty finish. A nice brew. hopscotch (4678), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Mar 7, 2007 Bottle... O-Town Throwdown... Black ale with a mid-sized, wispy, lightly tanned head. Decent retention. Chocolate, vanilla, roasted nut aroma. Dark roasted, singed chocolate flavor. Leans a hair on the bitter side of balance. Medium-bodied and watery with average carbonation. Lengthy, bitter, dry finish. Thanks to Jayg ( I think) for bringing this bottle to the Throwdown! Ernest (4285), Boulder, Colorado, USA Apr 20, 2007 Bottle. Head is initially small, fizzy/frothy, brown, mostly diminishing. Body is black (not opaque). Aroma is moderately malty (roasted/charred grain, nuts, chocolate/cocoa, coffee). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Nice malt-specific stuff, but didn’t rock me.
