Triple Rock Firkin Gravity Fest. Pours a deep black color but not so dark that light doesn’t pass through it. Light lacing but no head. Roasted malt with some bourbon in the aroma but the primary aroma is vanilla, and tons of it. My initial taste of this beer seemed to slap me with vanilla and not much else. I didn’t think I liked it much. But, as I sat with it for a bit, more flavors seemed to come out of the background and the vanilla seemed to calm down a bit. A woody bourbon note came out and melded nicely with a bit of coffee bitterness. The finish lingered a bit with a bit of the vanilla flavors.

Tasted on firkin at the 4th Annual Firkin Gravity Festival. This stout pours an eclipse black color. Small sized head. Aroma is roasty, coffee and cola, vanilla and sweet with a touch of bourbon. A medium to full bodied Oatmeal Stout. Malts are roasty, coffee and chocolate. Hops are earthy. Nice balance. Very smooth taste. The mild vanilla flavors balance out the roasty malts. Touch of wood. Nice beer. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

While this is a very well done beer and would make most vanilla fans ecstatic, I persoanlly am not a fan of Vanilla anything including ice cream. Full round mouthfeel with a good clean finish.

Damn this is good. Incredible nose on this brew. If you love the aroma of vanilla, then this is nirvana. Appearance was midnight black with a velvety soft mouthfeel. Flavor profile is a blissful combo of vanilla, oak, roasted malt, and a caramel/toffee note that is perfect. A totally enjoyable beer that I’m pretty sure was made for someone like me who like their stouts sweet. Ahhhhh...
