2.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
A lot of sugar in the aroma. Cloudy brown with no head at all. Excessive sweetness and with all too apparent alcohol which almost burns in mouth. Too much sweetness and too much alcohol. Unbalanced.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Fairly dark brown, like a cola, with little carbonation. Aroma is sweet and slightly sour, Demerara sugar, plums. The sweetness on the palate has the character nearly exactly of birch syrup oddly enough, with tart fruit that has a tangy sourness to it, like the skin of plums. Not foul, but certainly odd and not completely satisfying. Too syrupy, and that slightly sour component does not fit this profile.

2.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
0,33 l bottle as a gift.
Poured murky brown with a minimal offwhite head that went away fast. Fruity, sourish aroma and flavor, plum and phenols, some cocoa.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bittersweet, warming alcohol. A bit medical. Pleasant in its own way, it is by no means a vile tramp juice. Coffee, fennel. Oily, low carbonation.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Mike + Kiley. Pours a clearer brown, lots of smoke in aroma. Mouthfeel is kind of flat, but I’m not the biggest fan of the iced beers’ mouthfeel. Finish brings back smoke and a little bit of tartness, long finish, even if it’s not overly complex. I kind of liked it, at least as a novelty.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Quite a foul beer. I’m not sure if this is how it’s supposed to be, or if it’s just old. I feel like it’s infected and/or old. The beer pours a murky brown color with a lot of particles floating around. Zero head, seemingly zero carbonation, and absolutely no lacing. High alcohol percentage is the likely culprit for that.
This beer smells ... odd. Overly rippened fruits, super sweet malts, grapes... things of that nature. There are also notes of sourness in there as well.
The taste is what really throws me off. Insane sweetness on the front, a bit of bitterness on the finish. The taste is that of malts and undefined fruits. The aftertaste is extreme warmth and alcohol -- almost drinks like liquor rather than a beer.
I’m not sure what to make of this beer. I can’t tell if it’s infected, or if this is just how the beer’s supposed to taste/look.

2.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
0,33 L bottle in a gift pack from German family, cold, tulip. Clear deep ruby mahogany with no head. Rich brown sugar with light barf notes, lots of malt, some esters, some solvent and acetone notes, not too bad. Medium body, sparse effervescence. Some nice malts, thick and inky, tangy and slightly infected, not great; lightly sweet, fairly tangy and somewhat bitter with a long malty finish, not pleasant.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
A reddish brown bock with a thin mocha head. In aroma, a faint sweet fruity malt with light off notes, sulfur and licorice. In mouth, a sweet lightly acidic malt with weird off notes, still infected.BB O7-14.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
27th May 2012
Very hazy amber beer, short lived pale cream coloured head. Palate is dry and crispy. Minerals. Strong malt. A little toffee. Trace of smoke. Aniseed alchohol but not too much. Dry finish. Surprisingly inoffensive and fairly well behaved but not great.
