Clear dark brown color with small head. Strange combination of flavors. Prune aroma but more sour dried fruit flavor.

6.75 oz bottle at Bavarian Grill Plano. Poured a murky brown with no head at all. Very boozy up front, caramel malts and dark fruit finish. Low-medium carbonation, oily body. Seems oxidized to me.

I tried three of these Schorschbock beers at one tasting and this one was the worst, which was surprising since it’s much less of a novelty beer. It’s cloudy, lighter in color than I expected w/ a small head. This stuff is not as terribly sweet as I expected but still sticky and hot. There’s a bit of banana in the nose plus a bunch of strange oxidized, ashy and grassy flavors. Really, this is a very odd and rather off tasting beer.

Aroma: like a red wine, malty. Appearance: dark amber color and creamy head. Taste: malty, red wine notes, esters, semi-dry. Palate: medium body and medium carbonation. Overall: Something went wrong, but in this for this beer is great.

6.75 mL bottle. Turbid, honey-gold pour with smallish off-white head, not much retention. Nose is big dried fruit (dates, raisins, figs), brown sugar, toffee, candy, wildflower honey and hints of vanilla. Mouth is thick and oily, relatively soft carbonation, sweet with a lot of dried fruitiness, caramel, apple juice, ABV warmth in the finish. Not sure why this is so poorly rated -- it’s actually decent. No, it’s not Aventinus,(no one comes close) but still a solid eisbock.

Mahogany pour with no head. Sweet, boozy and fruity, which also describes some good beers but this one just doesn’t coalesce into deliciousness.

Nip bottle, dark amber color with no foam, dark fruit, malty, no herb or medicinal I would expect, good mild finish

Bottle. Hazy, brown in color with a skim of a head. Aroma is fruitcake and grains. Taste is dried fruit with a herb after taste. I like it.

6.75 oz. bottle. Hazed, light umber colored liquid. Meaty smelling, with heavy malt, light smoke, earth, leather, alcohol, prunes and dark caramel. Not much feel. Light sweet start. Actually kind of light and sweet flavors throughout. Not much in the way of complexity in this one. So, an amber that they molested to get a high ABV. Whoopee!

Aus der Bügelflasche. Dunkelbraunes Bier, wenig Schaum. Süsser malziger Duft mit kräftiger Alkoholnote. Dickflüssiges Mundgefühl. Sehr süss. Enttäuschend.
