3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle purchased in QC, tasted 04/11/2014. Pours pale burnished copper, thin fizzy head, thin ring of lacing. Aroma is sweet sour candied apple, touch of alcohol, nail polish, some oxidation. Taste is sweet, sour candied apple, pear, a bit cloying, oxidized, some funk, cardboard, sweet malts. Medium thin body. Not too great.

2006 Vintage. 750 mL bottle. Pours a hazy honey color with no foam. Mild oak, apple, apricot, lemony acidity, brett funk and grainy malt. Lightly acetic, lacto tartness. Light carbonation and body. A simple gueuze but tasty.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Ça fait 5-6x que je bois cette bière et je la trouve toujours excellente! Elle est chère, mais elle vaut la peine!

2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bought this quite a few times when in Montréal, May 2013, 2006 edition. Aroma of unripe apples, fresh hay and brett. Carbonation is low, mouthfeel similarly thin. Starts out quite sour, but ends on a malty sweet note, you have to look for the aging even though this was 7 years old. A bit too simple, but the only decent gueuze I had in Canada.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Hazy golden colored body, thin white head, sparse lacing. Intense acetic notes, some citrus, and light funk. Mostly a vinegar bomb from start to finish. Medium to light bodied, moderate carbonation, aggressive acidity. A bit too much...

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Murky gold pour with white head. Fruity aroma, lots of apricots, light bretty notes. Fruity flavor, light acidity, leather taste. Palate is a tad sweet for the style. Was very surprised by this beer, gave it a 4 blind, and even called it too. Highly drinkable, just a tad sweet.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: SEP 29, 2013 Forgot this bottle in the dark. Yep, this is the 2005 edition, opened in 2013. Well, quite surprised (as I remember Schoune beers being infected in the past), but this one is quite good. Did time make this one better ? I think so. Cloudy (hazy by the last pour) amber colour with a soapy head, average retention and minimal lace. Sour nose with lots of fruits (apples, lemons, gooseberries). Sour taste, but not as strong (as this is where time did it’s job) balanced by some nice sweetness. Lots of apples, reminding me of natural cider without the spices. Mild tartiness lingering with some yeast. I am very surprised how good this is, for so many years sitting. Wish I would of cellared more.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
on tap at festibière de québec. hazy light golden with a nice white head, some retention and lacing. unmistakebly bretty but also particularly acetic, light toasty caramel, wheat, peaches, vanilla - almost bourbony oak, tad sweet malts. light but assertive acidity, credits to acetic acid. not too lively, light body, lightly herbal and acidic finish. a more than decent gueuze-like beer, but blending young lambic with this unblended (at least i think) lambic would do them a great favor.. enjoyed it - pleasant surprise.
