2.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Metalchopz (1747) - Cantley, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 9, 2011
Originally rated January 2009. This citrus Saison pours a hazy beige-yellow colour with a decent white head, a little lacing, average carbonation, under-par retention. At first, the aromas were malty mixed with apples, but then, the citrus really came out. The mouthfeel is pretty thin and watery. The taste is on the light side too, with the mild fruits (apples and citrus) in the background. Not much aftertaste, and just a refreshing beer with lack of class.
2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Fred82 (1992) - Québec City, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 3, 2009
341ml bottle from Dépanneur Lauzière. Pours clear yellow witha tiny head. Very short retention. Nose is cheap beer, a bit grainy. Taste is cheap beer and a bit grainy as well. Some yeasty phenols but not much. No lacing at all. Tiny hints of citrus and fruits. Drinkable but there is so much better waiting in the fridge...drain pour.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 garthicus (2336) - Dublin, IRELAND - MAR 21, 2009
Pours a nice cloudy yellow with a quickly dissipating grey head. Aroma: Fresh lemon, lime, yeast, slight passion fruit too. Flavour: Cardboard, lemon, some yeast, not very complex but enjoyable.

341ml botle. Look is light gold. Not very impressive look or aroma.. A bit of a citrus taste. but it lacks taste a bit. Overall nice little light beer.
2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 8/20 Eructoblaster (2445) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 28, 2008
Bottle - 341ml. Golden cloudy body with instant-fading white bubbly head and lively carbonation. Decent malty/hoppy aroma with yeasty and citrusy hints. Taste, however, is rather watery with some light malty, honeyish, and coriander notes. Finish is almost unperceivable. Disappointing.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 swoopjones (4226) - Buffalo, New York, USA - JUN 16, 2008
Bottle. One of the most tasteless beers Ive encountered. Pours a extremely bland light as can be yellow. Absoultely no spiciness came across. Almost seemed like a light citrus vitamin water. Easy to drink but I found nothing that even resembled a saison here
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Viper666 (2682) - Saint-Hubert, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 13, 2008
Bouteille 341ml.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 MartinT (6934) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 30, 2008
My Bottom Line:
This Witbier-like Saison sports citrusy spices and fruitiness in a frothy and easygoing mouthfeel made for summer terraces and sun-drenched conversations.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam tops the cloudy white.
-Wheat is prominent in the flavor profile and the spice mix.
-Age is definitely not a factor for this keg. It tastes as fresh as if it had come out a few weeks ago.
-I would not have tried this from the bottle (I’ve been burned often enough by Schoune beers), but I have to admit this tap version was clean and very drinkable.
1-year-old; on tap at the Mondial.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Glouglouburp (5562) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 5, 2008
In short: A very bland and neutral blonde ale with a little acidic twist. Very boring but not offensive.
How: Bottle, fresh. 1rst batch, (and only one so far)
The look: Almost clear blonde body, barely any head
In long: Lack of aroma. Lack of taste. A lick of citrus, a little lemon zest and a little soft white bread with the crust removed. A light acidity is actually the most intense flavour in this bland beer. As it warms up the acidity goes down and the cereals come out a bit more. Lots of (too much) carbonation. Not hops presence. No obvious problem with the beer (a rarity from Schoune) but a total lack of personality. Felt like an acidic macro lager with aggressive carbonation. Unfortunately this is not the worst Saison in Quebec right now, with 400 centimeters of snow and counting winter takes the cake.
