4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 TimE (2586) - Tokyo, JAPAN - APR 30, 2004
Deep hazy amber-orange color and excellent lacing. The nose is full of oranges, maple syrup, spices and cookie dough. The body is yeasty with spicy orange undertones leading to a zesty orange finish

Beutiful belgian strong ale. Big fruity ale aroma and taste. Quite pungeant but clean at the same time with spiced of sweet orange peels and some other non-descript spices. Truly a fantastic beer. Another majestic creation from Little Belgium.

This surprised me, honestly. I was expecting a bit of a weak golden ale and instead this was rich and spicy. The body was pleasantly thick and sticky, and the taste was full of caramelized fruits and sweet doughiness. How fun! Light spice is present throughout, most notable in the aroma and finish. Hooray.

hazy orange, big well retained white head. spicy(coriander, cinnamon, pepper), yeasty, mild boozy aroma with hints of banana candy. the flavour goes malty and fruity with some citrus but more peach. nice complexity. due to the hemp leaf on the label should I be led to believe this is a hemp beer? if it is it's the best one I've tried.

Very cloudy brown-orange body. Head is the densiest of all the Schoune products. Both head and body carries some tiny yeast chunks. Nice fruity and spicy aroma with some pleasant hints of cinnamon. Taste is wonderfully complex. Malt and cereal flavors are immediately followed by spicy ones. Its bitter final is quite OK. This has nothing to do with some bad experiences I had with other Schoune products (bottling problems). Congratulations!

12oz bottle purchased for $2.29 at Metro Joanette in Montreal. Consumed shortly after purchase in Feb 08, but no freshness date provided. Pours a fabulous cloudy gold. Appears to have been bottle conditioned. Aroma is on the light side, but what is there is yeasty and a bit spicy. First taste has that yeastiness and spices that I associate with some other Quebecois beers like Unibroue, but on the lighter note. It’s a decent beer, but it lacks the ’oomph’-y goodness of some of its better brethren.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 BückDich (5467) - McCall, Idaho, USA - SEP 1, 2004
Gold hazy, well carbonated, light lacing. The aroma is very citrusy with some good funky yeast & some sulpher. Very clean peppery flavor ith a thin body but lively feel on the tongue. Finishes sharply carbonated and tangy.

UPDATED: SEP 2, 2005 2004 bottle from Dépanneur Rahman. Deep carrot-orange colored beer, some light earthy brown tones, and gold tints as well. Tons of foamy white head is lasting and provides tons of lacing. Aroma is full of funky veggie-fruits and has tons of dry yeast, lots of spices and is quite strong. I was reminded of Chimay Bleu when smelling (and drinking) this. It has that carrot-juice-like yeast aroma and flavor and something like Special B fruitiness of raisins and plums. Flavor is malty indeed, quite sweet, caramelly, sugary and full-bodied, with the yeast ever-present and a moderate amount of coriander/black pepper spiciness for balance. Light alcohol warmth on the end is not out of place. Fruity sweet (peaches, sweet pears, sweet apricots and oranges) with more sugar on the finish. A big beer, but I really enjoyed it. Probably a good candidate for extended aging. Bubbly, naturally carbonated texture, leading to spicy retronasal notes.

UPDATED: JAN 12, 2004 cloudy dark orange colour with almost no foam, chaotic aroma of rotten bread, candy sugar and alcohol, sweet and oily with a very unpleasant and sourish finish with notes of plastic and malt (3/2/3/2/4) - I fear I got an altered sample so I will let my old rating until I can taste it again

Wow, what thick huge head. Bud that nice appearance was somewhat damaged by those chunks in brew. Still well deserved 4/5. Nice banana aroma, soft yeasty touch, some berries. Did not tasted as good as aroma would promise. All that softness was hurt by that strange bitter feel. Runs a bit short at the end.
