2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 mathieuc (275) - Québec, Quebec, - JAN 8, 2013Bottle opens up without making any fanfare (not much CO2 escaping). Pours almost still with ugly bubbles that cling to the glass. Nose is not funky, more like rotten sour fruits. Nothing off-putting though, so I still take a small sip. There is still some carbonation but not much, not champagne-like as a good gueuze. Taste is sour fruits and random residual sugar, reminescent of an artificial peach juice. It’s still drinkable (not offensive) but I can assure you that there won’t be a repeat.

Bouteille 341ml. (2006)

Thanks to Shawn for this garbage juice. An incredibly ugly pour. Murky, turbid amber color with no head. Awful nose that reeks of cardboard, green apple peel, acetone, garbage, butter, and cooked vegetables. The flavor is not nearly as bad, but still unpleasant. Very heavy on the vegetables, cardboard, and butter. Green apple and acetone, sweet caramel, and lots of grass. Terrible.

I did not know what to expect as I did read some reviews before trying this and expected the worst.
A - Brown and still with barely no head even after an aggressive pour.
S - Mostly wet cardboard, metal and Manischewitz wine! If you are unfamiliar with Manischewitz, it is a very sweet, cheap and awful Kosher wine.
T - Not nearly as bad I thought it would be! A bit of sour and balanced with a nice nutty wood flavoring. A bit artificial but still I find myself wanting to drink more, at least it’s interesting!
M - A lot heavier on the tongue than I expected. Pretty full bodied, which was nice but not what you expect of the style.
D - Funny enough I COULD drink more, but I would not bother as it is just not a good enough beer for me to ever have another. Still, a clean aftertaste with a slight mouth sweat which I liked, but not enough to rate this beer as anything but a Mess that ended up not being Awful.
2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 11/20 Metalchopz (1744) - Cantley, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 5, 2011
Originally rated February 2006. Pours a cloudy caramel-orange colour with a small foamy head, that at least left a ring around the glass and a bubbly coating. The nose is quite sour with notes of fruits, like red apples and plum. Watery mouthfeel and no carbonation. Interesting high ABV for this style, but not felt in the mouth, no burn. The taste just barely has sourness in the back, hidden somewhere. Mostly, the same apples and kind of lemony and acid. Good try, but I will stick with the Mort Subite if I want a gueuze lambic.

(341ml bottle thanks to bu11zeye) clear amber, film/ring of khaki bubbles. Nose of caramel, rum, lightly tart, and a bit of apple. Taste of caramel, tartish, apple, tangerine, lemon. A great linger of tangerine and caramel. A bit under-carbonated. I can’t rate this to style like traditional Belgians, but the beer itself tastes good so I’m rating it as such.

Bottle courtesy bu11zeye. Pours a slightly cloudy orange color. Little head. Aroma is clay, earth and grains. Tart notes. Flavor is strong grains, hints of sweet malt with a bit of an alcohol warmness. Finishes tart with an easy dryness.
