02.05,2001. On tap at Schouskjelleren brewpub. Dark brown colour with tan head. Aroma is malty with dark malts. There is also lots of hops and very nice bitterness. Very good beer!

350ml, 5.1% ABV, from tap at the brewpub. Small tan coloured head to a jet black body. Good lacing to the glassware. Roasted smell of dark malts. More burnt than roasted dark malts in flavour followed by smooth bitter endnotes. Enjoyable (Oslo, 01.04.2011).

Draught @ Schouskjelleren Mikrobryggeri, Oslo
Pours black with a light tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Taste is medium sweet with a roasted coffee finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

On tap @ the brewpub. Close to black body with a thin beige head. Aroma of smooth roasted malt. Flavor is quite refreshing malt, fruity, roast and smoke. Moderate bitter and a pleasant roasted finish with dark chocolate. A well balanced stout at less than 5% alcohol, easy to drink with a well pronounced roasted flavor.

Black coloured beer toped with a slightly brown head. Aroma; Heavy on the malts here, really liking the coffee/chocolate flavours Im getting on the nose. Flavour; Not the most powerful stout I have tried, but again, a nice malt profile, coffe, hint of a floral component and toffee. Conclusion; This is theire "flagship" from what I understand, not the biggest ship, but a good beer thats for sure. I wish there was more power to it, but this is a crowdpleaser!

Medium brown head. Opaque black body. Roasty chocolatey coffeeish aroma with caramelly notes. Dry-sweet watery caramelly coffeeish taste with grainy roasty notes. Thinnish body. Mild mouthfeel. Dry burnt coffeeish aftertaste with metallic mealy notes. Nice, clean, maybe slightly underflavoured, but perfectly decent. (0.33l draft at brewpub.)

From tap@the brewpub. Near black, dark mahogny highlights. Low sand-colored top. Mild roast and dry ashy malts in the aroma. A note of cold coffee and cocoa. Light malt body, medium sweet with an acidic touch. Mild bitterness, some coffee/cocoa and roast. Very easy on the palate. Light malty-bitter ending. Drinks good, lack some fullness.

On tap at brewpub. Ebony colour, inch-thick beige head, quickly reducing to a ring with some lacing. Nose: Roasted malt, charcoal, wood, some smoke, fairly dry impression. In the mouth things get more interesting; lots of dark chocolate, burnt wood, coffee and a distinct meaty/leathery element. Medium body, average carbonation. Dry finish.
