COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Schremser Roggenbier is the rediscovery of a beer speciality, which was traditional up until the 15th century when it was then banned. Top-fermented, Schremser Roggen stands out due to its intensive full-bodied taste. Slightly fruity to start then pithy with a long aftertaste. 11.9°

Bottled(500ml). -dark orange coloured, medium sized white head, mild spicy nose. Very complex beer. Well spiced and fruity with touch of vanilla (ice cream) and banana. Light spicy and bitter finish, and pleasant long-lasting aftertaste. So far the best Austrian Roggen.

0.5l bottle courtesy of ogivlado who brought it from Austria (thanks!), shared with him and heavy
Poured a murky peach colour with a small but thick white head that went away slowly. Intensive perfumey clove nose... I usually don’t like them much in my beer but this one was remarkably nice. It’s lactic too and some light banana can be found as well. Nice. Coming in with somewhat low/no expectation this was a pleasant surprise, and the taste was even better. Strong cloves, remarkably tasty spice notes, ending lemony and peppery. The lemon morphs into elder from time to time. Extremely weak banana. Some hop bitterness too. It’s dry and remarkably complex for the style. Long bitter spicey aftertaste. The balance between the intensive spice and the lemony bitterness is just perfect. I shouldn’t like it all that much because of the spiciness and yet I do Just wow. We might’ve just hit a great bottle but I really feel that this is underrated a lot.

Cloudy amber color. Very strong rye malty nose with some cloves and bananas. The rye overpowers on the first sip, but then your palate adjusts and you want more. Wonderful. Very smooth mouth, low hops, excellent balance. Refreshing. Spicy rye finish. Hands down best rye beer in the world. THis is the shit!

On tap at Dean Swift, Tower Bridge, 9th April 2011. Murky amber with no head. Great nose - a wheat beer with more oomph, turned up to 11. Great fruity flavour - like a wheat beer but actually good/to my taste! Palate is delicate with flavour bursting through. Wow! Loved this.

Gyönyörű mélyborostyán színű sör, a habja sajnos kicsit gyorsan elillan. Illata és íze is egy friss búzasörre emlékeztet, citrusos, gyümölcsös finom ízek, ám ahogy a szájpadlást elhagyja, lassan átadja magát a kesernyésen fűszeres komló és a friss rozskenyér zamata. Elegáns nem túl intenzív buborékjai tartósak. Utóízében markáns kesernyésség, mely az igazi házi savanyú-rozs kenyér ízvilágát hordozza. Jóval üdébb frissebb sör, mint más - pl. Paulaner - rozs-sörök.

Bottle. Cloudy amber with a nice beige head. Aroma has huge spice notes in it with light hints of banana. Spicy rye, wheat, caramel malt, light banana, and herbal flavours. There is a nice spicy dryness to this with a pleasant amount of hop bitterness. Really interesting, quite enjoyed this one.

UPDATED: NOV 9, 2012 33cl Bottle. Strong grassy aroma. Appearance is cloudy gold and lightly carbonated (a less cloudly Zwickl), Taste is good to very good, with the rye malts standing out and with an almost beetroot taste, or even carrot juice, but not over-powering. Palate is good, bitter, malty and moresome. An impressive beer all-round.
