Schroppfy (1741), Ohio, USA Jul 21, 2002 Updated: Jan 23, 2005 My first perfect beer. I could drink alot of this. Had it sans syrup in room 705 (Volgon’s room) with the group. Missed the first bottle, but the ever gracious host Josh cracked the second one later on. Outstanding aroma, departs slightly (mostly in the intensity) from the sweet/sour aroma of a normal weiss, IMO. Yes, mouth-puckering flavor, but wonderfully so, and with so much going on. Wheaty, acrid, acid, sour, slighly sweet and bananaey aroma. Flavor has a whole bunch of lemony malt character.
kappldav123 (1172), Markkleeberg, Germany Oct 30, 2008 Had an old bottle from 1989 - 0,75l - made for friends of the brewery. The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also, but there’s no foam. Starts very sourish, prickly. The finish is a bit moldy and metallically, but I think that’s because of it’s age. Really good one! azlondon (528), Greater London, England Jun 26, 2008 Updated: Jun 27, 2008This was the worst beer I’d ever tried (at least up until then).
Appearance: Pale yellow-brown, no head, fizzy.
Aroma: Not wheaty at all, fruity. As if it is not ready.
Taste: Absolutely revolting. Acidic. Sour, though hint of fruit.
Info: 330ml bottle, 19/11-2005, 55/300, 35/500 ekstedt (2052), Göteborg, Sweden Jun 10, 2008 Bottled at Berliner Republik, served with a straw. Hazy straw yellow, low white head. Cidery aroma with green apples, some grapefruit, some tropical fruits and coconut. Light in body, soft carbonation. Dry and acidic. Very refreshing on this warm and sunny day in Berlin. gnoff (2923), Göteborg, Sweden Jun 8, 2008 (Bottle at "Berliner Republik", Berlin)
On June 7, 2008
Shady yellow color, white head. Sweet, apple and acidic scent. Acidic, lemon taste. Moussy mouthfeel, low bitterness. pivnizub (4007), Porúří, Germany May 22, 2008 Bottle (best before 15/09/07): Slightly hazy, rather quickly collapsing white head, lazy carbonation, pale golden; distinctive sourish fruity nose (green apples); sharp sourish flavour with a very faint sweetness, not too light bodied; apples and lemons in the dry, sour, tart and slightly sweetish finish. Good suff, better than many "commercial" examples of the Gueuze-family. What a pity.........
