COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Schuppenaas (Ace of Spades) is our fourth beer named after playing cards. For this beer we are obviously inspired by the great "Orval". We use a different yeast for the first fermentation but like Orval the second yeast strain is a Brett. For Hops we chose this time for Tomahawk and Simcoe. Additional Simcoe is added as dry-hopping.

Bottle thanks to Fergus at the Tropical Croydonia tasting. It pours lightly hazy golden with a thick white head. The nose is sweet, doughy, grainy, paper, sugary and a touch of sherbet. The taste is crisp, bitter, sherbet, lemon peel, cracker, doughy, pepper spice and alcohol boost with a dry finish. Medium body, fine carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Tastes alright. A fairly basic Belge.

Bottle @ Croydonia. Sort of farty Belgian yeast. Weird estery messiness. Taste of apple skin and honey. Belgian countryside. Medium body, oily. Meh.

Money well spent. Has similarities to Orval but hits slightly different parts of the palate, a little saltier, a little less orangy.

Bottle. Hop Hideout, Sheffield. Hazy amber. Bubbly, lively, off white head. Bready. Bretty. Lime. Lemon. Taste is crisp dry. Palate is sharp, and overly fizzy. Hops turn up on the finish. Quite like fresh Orval. Be interesting to know if it ages as well.

Pours an orange glass of beer. Nice and sweet Belgian Ale. Rather fruity and hoppy beer.
