Draught at the Schwartz Brewery (4.9-5.1%). Arrived golden orange with a small, frothy, white head which was mostly lasting. Fruity hop aroma with passionfruit, apricots, peaches, marmalade and some sweet caramel malts. Decent fruity hop bitterness with lots of stone fruit, some resin (mild), sweet caramel and biscuity malts hiding beneath. Medium bodied with medium carbonation, dry texture, watery mouthfeel and a good finish. Not quite sure why this was listed an amber ale as it is clearly an American pale ale. 30-40 IBU’s.

Big American hop nose. Light orange in colour with nice tight white head. Low carbonation, flat finish. Big build up with aroma, let down by flavour, very chalky.

At just $2 for a schooner at Happy Hour, this pale ale represents good value. But I can’t find many other reasons to recommend it. Overall, it seemed a bit "green" and muddled. Looked much like the pilsener - pale gold with a chill haze and a solid 0.5cm head. Aroma of lychee, lime ice poles and unripe greengages. No real malt presence. Carbonation seemed weak - felt a bit dead initially and became quite sticky and cloying near the foot of the glass. Flavour of lime ice poles - citric, tart and mouth-watering. Quite malty in the mid-palate, with faint caramel. Has some hop bite but became gummy. Hop extract? (Draught at brewpub)
