Ernest (6199) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - FEB 23, 2012
Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is medium to dark brown. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, nuts, husks, grain), lightly hoppy (herbs), with notes of metal and rotten fruit. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter, unclean. Light to medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation, metallic. Ugh. As with the other two beers I’ve had from this brewer, this just plain sucks. Dirty, metallic, poor mouthfeel, and really clunky. Drain pour.

Honeyish yeasty and burned notes. Brown amber low head. Burned chokolaty taste with the same refreshing fizzy, grassy bitterhop finish as the helles. Medium body - very nice beer.

Nice pig label. The b0dy is a clear chestnut c0l0r t0pped by a tall, pale tan head. The ar0ma is w0rty with0ut getting t00 sweet and has a splash 0f mineral water t0 it. It tasted rich and malty, caramel/toffee, again n0t t00 sweet, with a t0uch 0f ash. I liked this 0ne.

Bottle - labeled Schweinsbrau Dunkel with an ABV of 5%. Cola colored brown with a short, fizzy tan head. Aroma is caramel, grains, sweet malt, and toasted dark bread. Taste is sweet malt, caramel, grains, and toasted bread. Body is medium with a soft, bubbly carbonation. Ends with more grains and caramel along with some nuttiness, toasted bread and sweet malt.

Draught at the brewpub. Reddish brown coloured. Sweet and malty with notes of milk chocolate and coffee. Also quite fruity and rather nutty. Soft mouthfeel. Complex and nice.

Strykzone (4912) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - DEC 18, 2011
Bottle poured into a dimple mug. A big root beer like head takes some patience and a few pours before the bottle was emptied. I smell bready malt and soggy grain. No carbonation in the mouth and the feel is watery. Cocoa flavor is not big but is prominent. Applesauce and wet grass. Fruit is almost hidden. This is kind of ho hum.

Pailhead (4761) - Brownstown, Michigan, USA - MAR 2, 2012
Bottle: The aroma consists of toffee, fruit, and light nuts. It pours a transparent orangish-brown sith a two fingers off white head that leaves behind some sporadic webbing for lacing. The flavor starts with toffee and light fruit. The finish has light-moderate nuts and light tootsie roll notes. It has mild carbonation and a somewhat thin mouthfeel. Overall, flavor is solid but mouthfeel leaves a little to be desired.

wlajwl (3816) - Quad Cities, Iowa, USA - SEP 19, 2013
Aroma is strong toffee/caramel, earthiness and a hint of spice. The flavor is toffee/caramel, light fruit, thin body and a odd off tangy note in the finish.

obguthr (3767) - Staunton, Virginia, USA - JAN 20, 2012
Aroma is dried leaves and tea with elderberry accents. Clear rust, medium yellow head. Strong tea flavor, astringent. Elderberry is ever present. Mouthfeel is fizzy. This isn’t one of my favorite styles, but this one had personality. There are other detractors but at least this somewhat distinctive.

Patrickctenchi (3578) - Cox’s Knob, columbus, Indiana, USA - AUG 19, 2014
Bottle: Clear, deep caramel-brown with a creamy, light tan head. Dark bread, molasses aroma. Taste is toffee malt, nutty, chocolate malt......creamy. Quite tasty.....though slightly flat.
