Eructoblaster (1477), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Jul 21, 2006 On tap at the Highlander (Ottawa). Opaque black body topped with a good beige foamy head. Nice malty aroma with roasted coffee notes. Taste is well balanced, bit it lacks robustness and complexity. Ends with a decent bitter/smokey finish. Good average Porter. rudolf (1734), Buffalo, New York, USA May 28, 2006 Tap @ Volo. Solid black, thin off-white head. Nose is chocolate, deep roasted malt, maybe a little milk. Flavor is chocolate, nearly burnt malt, slightly milky. Very nice. Sammy (3934), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 28, 2006 nearly black. Aroma is roasty and malty. Very roasted, coffee, almost burnt porter.Even feels like sediment of burnt barley Quevillon (1518), Sainte-Thérèse, Quebec, Canada May 19, 2006 Updated: Oct 12, 2006But au Highland Pub (Ottawa), 20 oz. Chocolate, roasted malts in the nose, followed by a nutty, smoky (charcoal), dark-chocolate flavour with hint of soy sauce. Dry, a bit sour in its very long finish. Nice stuff! DerWeg (748), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 21, 2006 Updated: Sep 22, 2007RERATE Bottled release, stubbies. This is an elegant, full tasting and highly quaffable beer with much less astringency than I remember on draught. Beautiful tones of toffee and cocoa, Perry has really fine-tuned a beer that is now perfectly delicious . + One point each category and overall - nice feeling palate! ------------------- ORIG RATING: Very roasty bitterness, solid dark colour, almost like a bitter stout. Enjoyable. Tap at ?C’est What? Toronto, King & Front area. 3.5 out of 5 blankboy (3165), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 18, 2006 On tap at Bar Volo. Pours a deep dark brown, almost black, with a good size semi-lasting creamy tan head. Dry aroma of roasted coffee, roasted malt with a touch of chocolate and hops -- very roasty! Flavour of coffee or espresso and roasted malt and chocolate with a very dry slightly hoppy finish. Creamy mouthfeel and nice full body, especially for a Porter on tap. Another great beer from Scotch Irish! HogTownHarry (3922), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Apr 18, 2006 Draught. At Volo. Awesome roasty porter. Poured impenitrable black with a solid creamy-foamy lasting tan head. Very appealing dry dark roasty malt aroma of strong coffee and chocolate, with some mossy hops mixed in there ... mmmm. Taste is also dry, slightly acidic like coffee left to brew a long time, hints of prune juice, bitter nutshell longish linger - initially a solid, thick body, but it seemed to wilt a little in the finish - mouthfeel creamy, dry, acidic - don’t get me wrong, this is the best porter I’ve ever had on tap - solid brew!
