Tessic (439), Brantford, Ontario, Canada Nov 29, 2007 This porter poured a deep black colour with a dark tan frothy head. To the nose you could smell scents of burnt malts, chocolate and some earthy notes. First taste wa smooth and full of burnt malt flavour. With a nice finish of cocoa. the palate wasvery smooth with flavours of cocoa and ripe fruit lingering. RaphaelN (195), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Nov 26, 2007 The infamous dog beer. I didn’t know anything about this beer, but considering Scotch Irish’s Sgt. Major, I wasn’t expecting anything wonderful. I was quite right. A very light stout. Watery beer, akin to that of Waterloo Dark. Taste dominates in coffee and roasted malt, with some chocolate. Moderate beer, lacks complexity and flavour. ucusty (1871), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Nov 19, 2007 pours black with big tan head, and thick spotty lacing. Nutty aroma with slight hints of coffee. Thin bodied session-able porter sour on the mouthfeel, and flavors of chocolate, coffee, and malts. Nutty/Dry finish. Thanks papat444 for this one! JaPe (69), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Nov 18, 2007 Beautiful dark color. Earthy/coffee aroma. I taste bacon malt slight sweetness with a subtle bitter finish. Very Nice. JohnnyJ (1283), Carlsbad, California, USA Nov 11, 2007 Thanks to radiomgb for the bottle. Pours deep black with nice tan head and lacing. Dark chocolate, nutty malt, some roastiness, and a hint of licorice. Quite a good porter, mouthfeel was a tad bit thin. Boutip (2334), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Nov 6, 2007 Bottle: Poured a deep black color porter with a nice foamy head with some good retention and some lacing. Aroma of deep chocolate with a nice creamy texture. Taste is also dominated by some nice black chocolate notes with some light roasted notes. Body has a nice creamy texture with some good carbonation but maybe a tad too thin for the style. Remind me of some London porter out there. jason (1620), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 1, 2007 Bottle. Thanks to radiomgb for sending me this. Poured a deep balck body with nice head. Aroma has a nice roastedness to it, chocolate, molasses. Flavor is slightly bitter, lite chocolate. Creamy mouthfeel. Really nice porter. yarry (370), Waterdown, Ontario, Canada Oct 29, 2007 341ml bottle, 4.5% a/v in the Stubby Dog Bottle
Pours opaque black, with a thin tan head. The nose is molasses, roasted malt and chocolate. The taste is chocolaty, coffee, liquorice and a bitter fruit tang on the initial sips. Finishes nice and bitter with a toasted nuts flavour to compliment it.
Very nice beer, I will definitely be purchasing a few more of these to keep around!
