Commercial Description:
Another fine limited release from Scotch Irish. Captain Cascade, a 6.5 %abv ale with "sufficient hops", the variety used should be obvious.

Cask at Bar Volo. Pours a clear bubbly orange-amber with an average size white head. Overly mild aroma of citrus hops with a little malt thrown in. The flavour isn’t the "hop-kick" I thought it would be but it still has it’s fair amount of citrus hops along with some caramel malt, fruit and honey to balance things out. Medium bodied and goes down smooth. Well done, I look forward to drinking it again.

Draught (cask). At Volo. Poured a clear light amber with a decent thin creamy off-white head. Aroma of lightly woody malt, some light tart treefruit, peat, and tons of rich, dry, resiny evergreen hops. Taste is primarily the aforementioned hops - some light roast malt and fruit character, but it’s about the hops (although the malt re-emerges some as it warms. Mouthfeel is very astringent, thick and oily - this is a very nice, if one-dimensional hoppy session brew - sip it and enjoy. Once again, well done Perry!

Deep orange gold big light tan head. Sweet and perfumey hop aroma. Smooth and still. Very bitter. Woody and herbal with notes of vanilla, caramel and strawberry. Very aggressive and one dimensional.

Gravity dispensed, Winking Judge Spring Fest 05. Tons of citrus hops in aroma. After some debate, I settled on Powder Citrus Nestea Iced-Tea mix. I’m serious. Cloudy appearance. Medium bodied with a bold hop taste, but I found it went a little overboard and was too one dimensional (way too much grapefruit taste for me). I like my hops, I enjoyed this, I just didn’t think it was amazing. Having said that, I truly appreciate the effort of Perry in bringing us these one-off’s and experiments and encourage him to keep them coming!

Sampled on cask at the Winking Judge in Hamilton, ON, with tiggmtl, Olivier_MTL and Rastacouere. Unfiltered, yeast suspended in the syrupy amber body, really odd looking but for me appealing...peach juice and light citrus (orange, lemon) in nose...body syrupy, fairly bitter, bit of baked fruit, lasting wetness and bitterness...not horrible, I guess but really more interesting conceptually than good.

Thick, chewy caramel and toffee malt aroma with fairly simple grapefruit-citrus hop nose. Hazy tan-brown with low but lasting cover of creamy head that leaves some patchy lacing. Caramel malts, up front with an emerging assertive bitterness. Overall character is very juice-like - peaches, apricots and grapefruit. Creamy texture to the medium body with low carbonation. Sampled on cask with muzzlehatch, Olivier_MTL and Rastacouere at the Winking Judge in Hamilton.

Cloudy headless pour with hop residues. Highly perfumey nose, very aromatic cascade, fruity, bready, earthy and buttery. Floral, citrusy and hoppy palate, very limited maltiness, nothing but hops. Flat palate doesn’t quite cut it.
