Commercial Description:
Session's colour is golden-red and its aroma is heady, indicating our use of the finest Wye Challenger and Willamette hops. Its body is at once light, yet satisfying, and its flavour clean, yet assertive. The taste culminates in a dry and balanced finish that lingers long after the final sip.

Available on cask, dry-hopped, as Border Bitter

MOVED RATING: On tap at the Castle. Taps a nice orange-amber colour with virtually no head. Very limited carbonation, which creates a nice smooth mouth-feel. The flavour is simply the delicious grainy malt profile evident in all beers from this brewery. It’s basically Sgt. Major’s IPA without the high level of hops. An amazing session ale. At 3.8% abv. you can just keep drinking this delicious brew. The only thing it loses points on is the slight plastic-like taste that is occasionally evident (minute traces), but it really doesn’t distract much from the matly body of this beer. Top-notch stuff. NOTE: Moved rating as I am completely convinced this is the right beer I had on tap and it was mis-labeled (the beer I thought it was, I’ve had since multiple times, and there isn’t the remotest of possibilities it is the same as this one, not even close, even despite a recipe change) .

Small head, caramel coloured body, very little visible carbonation. Some honey, malt and toffee in the aroma. Nice. Flavour: Again, honey, some toffee, some good malt presence too. What a nice little beer. (Stubby bottle, called Stuart’s natural session ale)

Bottle, September 2008. Pours golden, lightly carbonated with very little head. I smell honey, pine, yeast. Mouthfeel is light to medium. The taste is surprisingly complex, caught me off guard at first sip. First there’s a sweet malt hit: toffee, honey. Then there’s some herbal notes, grass. And finally a slightly bitter hop finish. This is still a light, very drinkable (appropriately titled ’session’) beer, but is also interesing. Great stuff.

Came in a stubby bottle, called Stuart’s Natural Session Ale 3.7%. Nice sweet cider-like aroma, great deep golden colour, with white foamy head. Starts sweet with a medium bitter finish. Slight metallic aftertaste. A light beer with full flavour.

Bottled. Light, malty, burnt, a little bit sour. Some caramel notes and earthy, muddy flavours show up. Good balance and flavour for a light beer, but the sourness was a bit offputting. Still quite good for the style.
