Aroma is rich nutty and roasted malts, some good bittersweet aand super dark chocolates, with a slight licorice/anise note. Flavor is also roasted barley- hints of coffee, but with a bit of a milk sugar lactic kick to it, nutty, a bit leathery in the end and hints of oxidation all around smooth this one out nicely. Good beer. I think I got this from Kramer. thanks! PilsnerPeter (2617), Flushing, New York, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 22, 2009 Bottle shared by Dickinsonbeer: Pours opaque with a thick lasting brown head. Thick and tarry aroma. Burnt graham crackers, espresso, caramelized brown sugar underneath (but not very sweet) Slick feel with a great flavor. Lightly sweet upfront with a molasses suggestion- which smooth transitions to tons of soft black malt, lightly charred and roasted flavors and a smooth light inky bitterness. Really and awesome easy going Stout. grandgenie (252), gatineau, Quebec, Canada
Agaguk (119), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada

Aroma is of roasted malt, toast, coffee, with a bit of mocha. Taste is unexpected - a bit of a sweet fruity taste with the bitter coffee-like finish. Very interesting and tasty.
