Commercial Description:
Our John By Imperial Stout is so deep brown in colour you might as well say it is black. This ale’s powerful malt flavour is not overwhelmed by its alcohol content. Just the thing to ward off the cold of a Canadian winter.

Bottle shared by Dickinsonbeer: Pours opaque with a thick lasting brown head. Thick and tarry aroma. Burnt graham crackers, espresso, caramelized brown sugar underneath (but not very sweet) Slick feel with a great flavor. Lightly sweet upfront with a molasses suggestion- which smooth transitions to tons of soft black malt, lightly charred and roasted flavors and a smooth light inky bitterness. Really and awesome easy going Stout.

Shared with Grand Genie. Black with a nice creamy brown head and very nice lacing. Aroma: fudge, dark chocolate, roasted almonds, a light smell of burnt toast and lactose, caramel. Flavvor: licorice, creamy chocolate, molasses, fudge. Palate: full body and a creamy texture , fizzy carbonation with an oily finish.

Bottle. Lasting tan head atop a pitch black body. Flavor has a bit of lavendar to perfectly complement the toasty maltiness. Really smooth with a nice creaminess.

341mL stubby. Pours a deep brown with a thin brown head. Aroma is of roasted malt, toast, coffee, with a bit of mocha. Taste is unexpected - a bit of a sweet fruity taste with the bitter coffee-like finish. Very interesting and tasty.

341 ml bottle. Ebony with a tan haze. Nose is coffee and chocolate pudding with touches of hay and smoke. Medium body with a tingle. Taste is bittersweet chocolate, leafy greens, molasses and Greek coffee. Well done.

This poured an almost black color with a thin light tan head. Aroma was of lots of chocolate, and some coffee. Flavor was very disappointing, lots of weird soy sauce notes and sourish tastes. Reminded me alot of Sam Adams Triple Bock

341ml bottle from the LCBO. Great beer. Lots of butterscotch, chocolate and coffee flavors that I love in an imperial stout.
