Ibrew2or3 (2714), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Jun 2, 2008 Courtesy of CigarCityBrew. Pours deep brown with thin light brown head. The aroma is roasty malts, prunes, raisins and sugar sweet malts. The taste is much the same with roasty malts, earthiness, mild burnt malts and then adding in as well is sweet and tart dark fruit lining up along the back wall of the aroma arena. The fruity tartness hits the edges of my tongue tossing up faint moments of pain. The flavor overall is a bit thin, fruity and somewhat dark and malty. It is a beer, the kind you drink. I’ll have another. Maria (6056), Thisted, Denmark Jun 1, 2008 Courtesy of Sammy. It’s black with a huge, creamy, nougat brown and lasting head. The aroma has notes of coffee, chocolate and slightly burnt, roasted malt. The flavour has a light sweetness and a light bitterness and notes of roasted malt, licorice, coffee and light chocolate. The finish is slightly dry and bitter with hints of chalk and alcohol. The body is full and nice! mullet2007 (198), St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada May 31, 2008 My first Imperial Stout, thanks to robinvboyer! Pours a deep chocolate brown with a thin pale brown head. More or less opaque, but a few highlights show up when you hold it up to light. Aroma is a little bit smoky, with a big dose of hops. There’s a lot of roasted malts and coffee notes there too, but they kind of take a back seat to the hops. Flavour is about the same, fairly hoppy at first, then fading into roasted barley and coffee flavors, finishing up with a very bitter chocolate and hops sort of taste. Mouthfeel is very thick, creamy and a little oily with decently strong carbonation. KingpinIPA (842), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA May 26, 2008 Bottle via Glouglouburp. Dark color. Smell of roasted coffee, caramel, hops, chocolate and dark fruit. Taste of bitter hops, roasted malt, pine, bread, caramel and coffee. This has some sourness to it. fishingnet (1045), Brandon, Florida, USA May 25, 2008 Bottle courtesy Degarth. Pours black with a one finger tan head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, and roasted malt. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium mouthfeel with a mild amount of bitterness. Very good. Lumpy (1802), Carrollton, Texas, USA May 15, 2008 Bottle. Body-looks like cola with a thick ring of bubbles. Nose-malt powder, creamed coffee, Tootsie Rolls, chocolate powder, good chocolate nose, lightly lactic, medium coffee bitter, very clean with the sweetness kept in check. daknole (2805), Plantation, Florida, USA May 11, 2008 Bottle thanks to robinvboyer. And a big thanks...this is a really great imp stout. Nice dark black pour with a decent sized head. Aromas are raisins, chocolate, sweet coffee, malt, and candy sugar. Flavors are sweet, balanced and really nice. I taste some super sweet raisins, sweet malt, and the alchohol is not even noticeable on the tongue. Jan Primus (160), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada May 8, 2008 Not a bad stout but I question if this should be classified as "imperial". Roasty malts and a creamy body without the sweetness I expect from an imperial...not too shabby.
