Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Mar 29, 2008 341ml stubby from MrManning - thanks Len, but you must have screwed up... this beer is AWESOME! A far cry from Steelback, buddy! Black with a beige head. Amazing spiderweb lacing. Rich roasted malt nose, coffee and bitter chocolate. Bold dark chocolate flavor, a bit of coffee, SO roasty! A nice underlying fruitiness is behind all that, with a hit of tobacco. Thick bodied, oily smooth. This is excellent. Thanks again, Len! rustychiles (1007), Mesa, Arizona, USA Mar 28, 2008 Bottle courtesy of Radiomgb.
Pours a deep brownish black with a creamy burnt brown head. Wonderful aroma of chocolate, roasted barley, malt, coffee. This smells REALLY good. Nice creamy mouthfeel with flavors of burnt coffee, malt, roasted barley and maple syrup entice the tongue. This is a very nice imperial stout, I’m impressed. gunhaver (1024), Tampa, Florida, USA Mar 18, 2008 Updated: Jun 4, 2008Bottle, courtesy blankboy. Pours a deep, dark brown, practically black, with a big creamy light-caramel colored head. Lots of sticky lacing on the glass. Aroma is smoky, with rich chocolate, caramel, molasses, roasted malts and coffee. Big roasted coffee flavors that delights the tongue. Chocolate...caramel...maple syrup. Rich, full body. Smooth watery finish. Immensely drinkable and delicious. The one imperial stout you could drink all day. Fantastic. travita (1861), Frisco, Texas, USA Mar 17, 2008 Black with ruby high lights with a tan head. Aroma has dark fruit, medium body. Not too bad, but it seems to be missing something in the flavor. WeeHeavySD (2942), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Mar 17, 2008 12oz pill bottle from Puzzl, shared with my girlfriend Cyn. 6.7% makes me dubious of the imperialness of this beer, but we shall see. This beer certainly has the look, but the question is does it have everything else. Pours black with a 1 finger light brown head. Nose is sweet and woody with strong notes of caramel and coffee. Taste is chocolately and full of coffee beans and a bit of fruit a tasty imperial stout, but could use a bit more umph for me, I like hopdog’s stance imperial stout light, because thats what it feels like to me. Imperial-John (154), Mississauga, Ontario, Canada Mar 16, 2008 Updated: Apr 29, 2008Black with short lasting espresso tan head. Aroma is dark roasted coffee bean and chocolate. Intense bitter dark roasted coffee bean taste, like biting into a dark chocolate covered coffee bean, wow. bu11zeye (5430), Frisco, Texas, USA Mar 15, 2008 (Bottle) Pours a dark brown body with a spare tan head. Aroma of roastiness, cocoa, caramel, and light burnt wood notes. Flavor of chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, and some dark fruit. JorisPPattyn (5155), Antwerpen, Belgium Mar 12, 2008 I think I have to thank Jeremy for this one - great! Dark beige head over black beer. Extremely chocolatey nose, dry with a tad sweet-smelling caramel behind. Dry, ashy flavours, lightly smoked, with a good bar of dark chocolate behind it, the kind flavoured with coffee and chunks. I think you’d get the kind if you could condense this. Though rather low on alcohol, it is still warming. The saturation enlightens it, but I’ve seldom had a beer that cried "sustaining" as much as this one. Very good stout. You Canadians can keep calling this "Imperial" only as long as you keep Lizzie as head of state, however. Foreign would suit it better - or Royal?
