GregClow (2493), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 27, 2007 Cask at Volo Cask Days 2007. Dark orange-amber with a small head. Aroma is sweet, spicy (cinnamon, nutmeg, clove) with fresh pumpkin and hops. Flavour has a hint of pumpkin off the top, followed by a prominent spiciness, some wood and lemon, and a warm, herbal finish. Pretty nice stuff. HogTownHarry (3922), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Oct 24, 2007 Cask. At Volo Casks Days ’07. Hazy orange-copper pour, average head. Aroma of caramel malt and fresh pumpkin, always nice to smell a pumpkin beer that isn’t just pie spices ... also had mild cinnamon/nutmeg spiciness and some dry hops ... smelled like a "Belgian" yeast, but what do I know about that stuff? The taste was simpler than the aroma, more bitter, pungent spice, less of the vegetalbe pumpkin character, had a nice herbal finish. I found the body quite thick, not much carbonation but who cares - and a long pungent dry spicy finish. Very very good, it paled a little as I’d had the Southern Tier Pumking the day before, but better than the other Ontario Pumpkins, that’s for sure. blankboy (3165), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 24, 2007 Cask at ’Volo Cask Days ’07’. Pours a cloudy orange-amber with a spare diminishing off-white head. Aroma of sweet malt, pumpkin and spices. Flavour seems a little boozy which is odd for a 6% beer. Sweet malt, spices and a somewhat bitter finish. Good body for the style. Just O.K. beergut111 (210), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 23, 2007 Cask days 2007. Great beer . Maybe a bit heavy on the spice and too syruppy, but maybe im just being picky. I enjoyed both this and the Great Lakes Pumpkin, but I think I like the Great lakes one a little bit more. JaPe (69), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 23, 2007 Had it atVolo cask Days 2007. Great pumpkin spice aroma and JUST the right amount of pumpkin flavor to keep me wanting more. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 22, 2007 Cask. Orange-copper body with a still white ring of head. The aroma is very spicey with lots of cinnamon, ginger, and pumpkin. Tastes pretty good - biscuity, with tonnes of pleasant spices, and oranges. I noted some pumpkin but it wasn’t really the dominant flavour. This stuff was very smooth and drinkable.
tupalev (2605), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 22, 2007 At Volo cask Days 2007. Brown, a few bubbles in the head. Good malt, spice, alcohol aroma. Taste is a little syrupy sweet - there is pumpkin and spices here, but I think they would have been better served maybe at 5%? I dunno, for 6% , i found it boozy for some reason. Anyway, I enjoyed it, and am thankful Perry continues to cater to us beer folks by brewing up these interesting one-off’s. jerc (3861), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 21, 2007 Amber brown body, headless. Strongly spicey aroma, hints of root beer and a peat like substance, one spice in particular that I can not identify. (7+) Carries over to the flavour with lots of spice and only mild pumpkin. Nice but it becomes overwhelming after a while. Full bodied for a cask but a bit under carbonated.
