The aroma is actually more malt than hops in my sample, and the malt carries a distinct resemblance to saltine crackers. There’s a bit of Christmas tree needles from the hops. The flavor is more of that cracker malt mixed with a bitterness that doesn’t seem to meld with the malt very well. The beer seems a bit out of whack to me. The hops are definitely in the IPA range for the bitterness, but seem to be lacking in hop aroma and flavor other than bitterness. jah noth (1015), Rochester, New York, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 8/20 | Apr 30, 2005 Acidic aroma reminiscent of tomato sauce. Light amber in appearance with little head to speak of. To me this beer tastes all wrong - strange malt combinations - chocolate and crystal are not doing it for me, and the bitterness sort of clashes. Not very enjoyable. Thanks to radiomgb for the sample. beerbuzzmontreal (2911), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 29, 2005 Pours a slightly hazy caramel/golden body with a thin white head. Whoa, as soon as I put my nose on top of the glass pine needles hop from the beer into my nostrils, wow, am I smelling Pine-Sol ?, I smell some citrusy hops too, so this beer’s aroma is piney and citrusy hops all the way , cool. I just had the first sip and it feels like piney hops happily jumping in my throat, and I like it, some citrusy hops follow, also to balance the hops there’s a decent malt base that gives out a sweet flavor of caramel, moderate but lasting bitter finish. Light to medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. An ontario microbrewery going west coast for its IPA, strange but the result is remarkable. Chugalug (29), Calgary, Alberta, Canada

I felt like I had just ate a bowl of hops for breakfast! A real treat for Ontario hopheads looking for a local beer to get their fix! GonZoBeeR (2160), ste-Eulalie, Quebec, Canada

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 21, 2005 341 ml bottle. Pale amber colour with a frothy and creamy off-white head. Bread, light caramel, and green, leafy hop aroma. Bready and toasty malts with a piny and resinous bitter finish. Medium bodied smooth and refreshing, but a bit on the dry side. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 23, 2005 Amber with a slight infusion of red. An interesting cornucopia of fruit scents escape the glass – it’s like the burst of fruit aromas you get after popping off the lid on a can of fruit salad. Low carbonation. Extremely bitter flavour – there’s enough hops in here to preserve the beer for a trip around the world, not just a trek to India. Long, bitter finish matures into some interesting fruity and woody nuances. Very challenging and very pleasing. An extreme IPA that feels as good doing a hand-plant on the halfpipe. mustang3 (254), Whitby, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 4, 2005 From a bottle. Pours out a nice copper colour with a 1 finger white head. Strong hoppy nose. In the taste I got mostly resiny pine and spice with little grapefruit. There is good malt balance a pleasing bitter aftertaste.
