Taste is initally very bitter then subsides somewhat towards the finish. Could use a better hop/malt balance but overall not a bad beer Sanchex (223), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Gave this to a friend who doesn’t drink beer much and the look on his face when he tasted it was priceless. This one is refreshingly bitter rather than brutally bitter like the Corporal Punishment (which is great). Very complex palate and wonderful fruity aroma. Cheers! Golden blonde, with a decent head.
I’ve never smelled so much grapefruit in a Beer before! Chinook all the way. It had a borderline medicinal and solvent scent, but not at all unflattering.
It felt prickly on the tongue as you take a first sip, then it coats it nicely and then dries it out completely. The malt is very shy but is there, the astringency of the grapefruit hops is totally in charge here.
People kept telling me Scotch-Irish is the best micro in Ontario, with the few I’ve sampled so far I would be hard pressed not no believe them.

Clear spun copper wire body, toped with a perfect stable malted-milk head....powerful floral nose, honeysuckle and strawberries with some biscuity malt underneath, I could smell it for ages....solidly bitter flavor throughout, with a bit of fruit at the front but really for me excessively dry and bitter late to the point of being nearly undrinkable. Gets points for initial impressions, but that bone-dry/bitter combination simply doesn’t work for me. Rastacouere (5553), Montréal, Quebec, Canada

Appearance is a filtered gold to amber with a small, but lasting off-white head. Grapefruit and pine flavors with a flavor profile geared toward hops. Concentrated grassiness seems to blend into an almost biscuity very subdued malt character. Crisp mouth presence, refreshing light-medium body. Rather mineralic water brings a salty touch to the highly bitter and citric finish. American in nature and doing good at what it aims. Beer Snob (382), Ontario, Canada

Enticing hoppy aroma with a touch of citrus. Hops can be tasetd as well as grapefruit. Very refreshing, the residual bitterness is almost overpowering.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 17, 2004 Bottle from LCBO ottawa. Amber ale with a nice off-white head, creamy and proteinaceous. Pleasant pinhey hops aroma, slightly sweet. Fresh hops biscuits with a nice crisp c-hop in mid tasting. Nice citrus lingering in finish. However, a bit lacking in body, a bit too light, and I agree with the others below, would gain having a bit more malt., would make the mouthfeel longer. 11026 (1799), Alabama, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 12, 2004 Bottle from DougShoemaker. Crystal clear amber color. White head fades out slowly. Light hoppy aroma with a little funk. Citrus rind bitter. Balance is a little off, malt is needed. Could use more flavor and aroma hops.
